For me, the wilderness is a place that has always brought peace. Whether it’s seeking out local wildlife or climbing up desert towers, it’s where I feel most at home.
I’ve spent a lot of time climbing in the lowlands of the Mojave Desert from Joshua Tree National Park all the way to Red Rock National Conservation Area right outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, and have experienced rugged camping in the Eastern Sierras of California both in deep snow and sweltering heat.
My father was born in a small mountain town in Mexico and instilled the love of nature in me from a very young age, so as soon as I was able to travel on my own, I went in search of wildlife and mountains to climb. Having caught glimpses of the super rare big horned sheep in the Zion canyons, witnessed herds of stampeding mustangs in Nevada and the ‘wild’ Zebras in the San Simeon Valley, my desire and curiosity to see the great migration in person was ignited.
A sense of adventure and a love of nature passed down to me from my father continues to fuel my passion for travel, and I hope my stories and anecdotes can inspire our guests to go out and explore Africa with the same genuine curiosity I had prior to my first experience.
