Mae Wang District is located around 90 minutes to the South West of Chiang Mai and a little North of Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest mountain. It is a striking and scenic area especially during the monsoon when the rice fields are green and the rivers are brimming with fresh water.

Hiking is the perfect way to immerse yourself in a very traditional part of Thailand. Along the way you'll meet the Karen people who live on the mountain tops and your guide will introduce you their fascinating culture. Visit villages, trek through forests past cliffs and waterfalls and learn all about the local way of life. Please note the total hiking time can range from 2.5-4 hours and you'll need a good pair of shoes.

Optionally at the end of the hike, drive to a small rafting camp to start a relaxing bamboo raft trip for about 45-minutes on the Wang River. Please note that time depends on season/water level.
