Itinerary

A dream couple’s adventure awaits you. Begin your honeymoon with a bang in the northern reaches of South Africa, where you can enjoy an exclusive and luxurious safari getaway in the wilds of Marakele National Park. Then you’ll fly to Mauritius to sink into tropical beach bliss and uncover the island’s astonishing scenery, tantalising cuisine and thriving creole culture. This honeymoon itinerary offers a sensational blend of adventure and indulgence, with memories to cherish for a lifetime.

  1. Fly to Johannesburg

  2. Days 1-5: Marakele National Park

Flying overnight and touching down in Johannesburg, you’ll soon be on your way to start your safari as you are met off the plane by a representative and whisked through the airport to meet your driver. You will journey north for about 4 hours where you’ll arrive at Marakele National Park, an area of undeniable beauty, where lush bushveld gives way to the Kalahari sands. Your destination is Marataba Mountain Lodge, a sanctuary in the mountains overlooking a valley and your home for the next four nights.

Spend your days immersed in the wild and enjoy exclusive experiences to cherish for a lifetime. Glide along the Matlabis River on a boat safari and enjoy a glass of wine and tasty bites as you watch elephants drinking at the water’s edge, kicking up the dust in the glow of the setting sun. Feel your senses awaken as you walk in the tracks of wildlife, led by an expert guide who will point out the spoor of lions and the tracks of black rhino. Venture into the limitless landscapes of this wilderness and keep your eyes peeled for the Big Five, feeling your excitement build as you approach a herd of elephants majestically ambling by. For an adventurous and romantic escape, opt for a night out in the Thabametsi treehouse and fall asleep in your king size bed under a net of star constellations, listening to the sounds of the bush in the depths of the wild.

Accommodation: Marataba Mountain Lodge (4 nights)

  3. Days 5-11: Mauritius

Tropical island bliss awaits you. This morning you’ll set off early to travel back to Johannesburg in time for your flight to Mauritius. Arriving on this island of pure beauty, you’ll step off the plane and gaze out at the lush, rolling hills surrounding you before heading to the sun-drenched beaches of the east coast. Your home for the next six nights is SALT of Palmar, an eco-boutique hotel that exudes creativity and flare, with sustainability at the core of their values. A rejuvenating stay is promised here as you sink into serenity on the powder white beach and indulge in a la carte food, which shows off a fusion of flavours from homegrown ingredients. Tantalise your taste buds as you learn to cook a traditional Mauritian curry using local spices that you have handpicked from the spice garden. Evenings can be spent on the eclectic rooftop bar, enjoying a dreamy selection of cocktails whist you listen to the infectious rhythms of chilled, local music. Awake to an incredible sunrise from your king size bed, listening to the ocean waves lapping the shore.

Unravel the secrets of Mauritius as you explore this captivating island in a Mini Cooper convertible provided by the hotel and chase those brilliant orange sunsets for some picture-perfect moments.  Head to the wild south and meander through a tea plantation or venture west and trek the Black River Gorges National Park, a nature lover’s paradise.

Accommodation: SALT of Palmar (6 nights)

  4. Fly Home

Make the most of your final day in Mauritius, plunging into the azure ocean and sipping on mouth-watering cocktails by the pool before being transferred back to the airport in time for your flight home.
