Days 1-4: Douro Valley and Northern Portugal
Set on the banks of the Rio Douro, Porto is a vibrant and fascinating city, with charming buildings to admire and a fabulous culinary scene to enjoy alongside its rich wine heritage. The ancient port houses of the city line the river, while the historic centre of Porto and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ribeira, is home to the pastel-coloured houses that the city is famed for.
The Yeatman is the city's 'wine hotel' and as such is a real paradise for wine lovers. From the wine tasting masterclasses to the Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa, much of the focus here is on Portugal's fabulous wines. During your three nights at The Yeatman, enjoy tasting a wide variety of wines or relax with a soothing treatment using products made with vine extracts.
Spend your days exploring the colourful city of Porto, weaving through its winding streets, and enjoy a gastronomic walking tour of the city with your private guide. Sample local delicacies and mouth-watering petiscos - the Portuguese take on tapas. You'll also have the opportunity to taste some of the port that the city is named after with a tour of Taylor's cellars.

Days 4-8: Douro Valley and Northern Portugal
After getting to grips with Porto's fascinating culture and delicious local Port, travel along the river to spend four nights at the stunning Six Senses Douro Valley. Well known for its world-class spa - a destination in itself - this is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the river and the vineyards that surround it.
One of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world, the Douro Valley is naturally home to a huge selection of exceptional wines. Spend an afternoon in the hotel's own Wine Library, where private wine tasting sessions are conducted by the Six Senses' sommelier, or cruise along the river to one of the historic local vineyards, known as Quintas. Wine lovers visiting the area in the autumn months can even participate in the harvest activities, including the centuries-old tradition of stomping the grapes.
If you manage to tear yourself away from the peace and tranquillity of the Six Senses, discover the natural beauty of the Douro Valley with a private boat trip along the river, or alternatively, enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime helicopter flight to take in the breathtaking scenery from above.
