Immerse yourself in the culture, history and landscapes of Cambodia
Local guides will bring each destination to life, allowing you to really get under the skin of this beautiful country, with its colourful past
Cambodia is hot all year round and the best time to visit is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. It starts to get wetter in May and the wettest months are September and October. It is still possible to visit during this time as rain usually falls as short sharp storms. November is a fantastic month to visit Cambodia as it is very green after the rainy season and the lakes and rivers are full of water.
Indulge in a cultural 8-day tour of Cambodia, including a taste of the ancient history at the magical temples of Angkor Wat, an insight into the modern history of the Khmer Rouge regime in Phnom Penh, followed by some time to relax and reflect on Cambodia’s unspoilt coast.
Begin your holiday in Siem Reap, home to the mystical Angkor Archaeological Site and most famously, Angkor Wat. Your private guide will accompany you to the major temples such as the eerie faces of Bayon or overgrown Ta Prohm as well as helping you discover some of the lesser known temples in this vast complex, steering you well away from the tourist crowds. Come back and visit again for sunrise, to watch the imposing façade of Angkor Wat light up in the morning sun. In your free time, Siem Reap is a lively town filled with trendy boutiques, arty cafes and colourful markets, and is a great place to explore on foot.
After three action-packed nights in Siem Reap you can take a short flight down to Phnom Penh. Being the capital of Cambodia, there are lots of interesting sights such as the Royal Palace and National Museum. A visit to the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek and Tuol Sleng, a former high school that the Khmer Rouge turned into a centre for interrogation and torture is also a must, to understand the tragic history of the Khmer Rouge regime that ended in the late 1970s.
For your final three nights, retreat to the Cambodian coast for some time to relax in a gorgeous boutique property. Knai Bang Chatt is a guesthouse with a relaxed atmosphere and unobtrusive service that immediately makes guests feel at home. The coastline is rapidly evolving, yet Kep retains the charm of a traditional fishing village. Spend your days relaxing by the pool, taking a sailboat out, exploring the local markets or hiking in the national park.
Experience the majesty of Angkor Wat with a short sunrise tour, the best time to visit this ancient monument and one of Southeast Asia's most important archaeological sites.
This is one of our favourite half-day experiences from Siem Reap; with specialist guides you'll avoid the crowds and head off by foot into the jungle temples before anyone else.
Experience the highlights of Phnom Penh before heading out to the green fields of Cheung Ek, known as The Killing Fields, to learn about the background and cruelty of the Khmer Rouge regime. This is a fascinating half-day tour.
This fantastic tour is geared around avoiding the crowds, getting you to Ta Prohm, Ta Nei and Ta Keo at the quietest time of day. Ensconced in jungle, these temples are ideal for adventurous families and couples wanting an Indiana Jones experience!
