As a country in the Southern Hemisphere South Africa's seasons are the reverse of the north - with winter in June-August and summer December-February. Game viewing is better during the drier months of April to September. The wildflower season is generally from mid August to mid September. The whale watching season runs from June to November.

Cape Town is a year-round destination. The summers are generally warm and dry, while winters tend to be wet and cool, the rains brought on by fierce north westerly gales. Neither season experiences extremes of temperature, thanks to prevailing winds. Summer (Nov-Mar) is the hottest with temperatures 20-40°C. Mid season (Apr, May, Sep, Oct) temps between 10-30°C. Winter (from June- Aug) is the low season with temps 0-25°C.

Offering a safari with a difference, this itinerary takes you to the KwaZulu Natal where rhino and elephant conservation is at the forefront of the safari industry. Enjoy lush greenery and a mix of incredible animals outside the usual Kruger and Madikwe areas before flying down to the Winelands and Cape Town where you will enjoy some delicious food and wine, and plenty of opportunity to explore these culturally and historically rich areas.
Start your South Africa holiday as you fly into Johannesburg and catch a connecting flight to Richards Bay Airport in the KwaZulu Natal. On arrival you will be met and transferred on a shared basis into the &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, taking approximately 2-hours. You will spend the first three nights of your holiday here with all game activities and food and drink included. &Beyond’s Phinda Reserve is an award-winning safari destination and is well renowned for its conservation efforts where guests can head out with guides on rhino notching experiences and elephant collaring with a team of vets. Each morning and afternoon you will have game activities on the reserve where your guide will be on hand to point out any animals of interest and to teach you about Phinda's conservation efforts.
Today your holiday continues as you leave Phinda by light aircraft and are transferred down to Durban where you will catch a short flight to Cape Town. Here you will collect your bags and will be met by a representative who will transfer you by car to the beautiful Winelands area where you will spend the next two nights with breakfast included. During your first day in the Winelands we have organised for a full day tour of Franschhoek followed by a guided hike in the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve. Your day will continue as you enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before your driver-guide takes you to Stellenbosch where you will spend the afternoon at the Waterford Wine Estate touring the vineyards and enjoying a chocolate and wine pairing. The late afternoon is at your leisure and we recommend you walk around the gardens of Babylonstoren where you will be able to walk amongst the fresh fruit and vegetables grown on the property.
After breakfast at your hotel you will be transferred by vehicle to Cape Town, taking around an hour and a half. Here, you will go on a guided walking tour of the city stopping at famous sites such as the Bo Kaap area, the Slavery precinct and City Hall amongst others. After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, you will then continue the city tour with a trip in the cable car to the top of Table Mountain and ending with your driver-guide taking you past Signal Hill and through Clifton and Sea Point. Spend the next two nights in the waterfront area of the city with breakfast included. A stay on the V&A Waterfront means easy access to a wealth of restaurants, bars and shops and a great atmosphere for all. The next day you will meet your driver-guide again for a full day Cape Peninsula tour where you will see Chapman's Peak, Simon's Town and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve with a stop at a local seafood restaurant along the way. Your holiday ends as you head home after an incredible holiday.
Today your holiday ends as you catch a flight home via Johannesburg.
