Best time to Visit

Average time to visit

As a country in the Southern Hemisphere South Africa's seasons are the reverse of the north - with winter in June-August and summer December-February. Game viewing is better during the drier months of April to September. The wildflower season is generally from mid August to mid September. The whale watching season runs from June to November.

Cape Town is a year-round destination. The summers are generally warm and dry, while winters tend to be wet and cool, the rains brought on by fierce north westerly gales. Neither season experiences extremes of temperature, thanks to prevailing winds. Summer (Nov-Mar) is the hottest with temperatures 20-40°C. Mid season (Apr, May, Sep, Oct) temps between 10-30°C. Winter (from June- Aug) is the low season with temps 0-25°C.

You will spend the first three nights of your holiday here with all game activities and food and drink included. &Beyond’s Phinda Reserve is an award-winning safari destination and is well renowned for its conservation efforts where guests can head out with guides on rhino notching experiences and elephant collaring with a team of vets. Each morning and afternoon you will have game activities on the reserve where your guide will be on hand to point out any animals of interest and to teach you about Phinda's conservation efforts.

Accommodation: &Beyond Phinda Mountain Lodge (3 nights)

  3. Days 4-6: The Winelands

During your first day in the Winelands we have organised for a full day tour of Franschhoek followed by a guided hike in the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve. Your day will continue as you enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before your driver-guide takes you to Stellenbosch where you will spend the afternoon at the Waterford Wine Estate touring the vineyards and enjoying a chocolate and wine pairing. The late afternoon is at your leisure and we recommend you walk around the gardens of Babylonstoren where you will be able to walk amongst the fresh fruit and vegetables grown on the property.
