The best time to visit Myanmar is during the dry season from November to April. At this time the warm and sunny days are ideal for sightseeing throughout the country. The temperatures start to rise in March, and May to September is best avoided as this is the rainy season when sightseeing can become difficult.
This epic itinerary showcases the best that Myanmar has to offer from its luxury hotels to its unique and exclusive experiences. This is truly Myanmar in style, as you venture from Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay, Inle Lake and Ngapali Bay with an added beautiful cruise along the Irrawaddy accompanied by the very best guides in the country.
Start in Yangon and stay at the Governors Residence, the best address in town. On arrival we have included a fast track VIP service at the airport, so that from the beginning you’ll be starting your adventure in style. The next day, set off with your private guide on the ‘Elephant Coach’ to explore all the highlights of Yangon. This antique Chevrolet bus was once used to transport dignitaries in the wat and today has been beautifully restored with luxury amenities. At sunset, you’ll head to Shwedagon Pagoda. The sun's dying embers make the golden structure glow as time passes and it is an incredible sight to behold.
After two nights in Yangon, you’ll fly up to Bagan where you will again be met by an ‘Elephant Coach’ but this time with an archaeology expert who will be able to bring to life the incredible temples that dominate the landscape of Bagan. The following morning, we have included one of the most special experiences in Bagan and Myanmar as a whole, a wonderful hot-air balloon ride over Bagan at sunrise. At the end of the balloon ride there will be a glass of sparkling wine and a light breakfast waiting for you. Later in the afternoon take a luxury horse cart through some of Bagan’s most iconic landmarks before being taken for sundowners on a sandbank in the Irrawaddy.
On departure from Bagan, you’ll be taken to the jetty where you will meet The Road to Mandalay for your cruise along the Irrawaddy River to Mandalay. This is a unique and lovely experience on board the most famous cruise in the country. Each day you will have daily excursions with expert guides and fascinating lectures. In the mornings a range of activities are also available including sunrise yoga and meditation.
On arrival in Mandalay your private guide will be waiting for you to begin your sightseeing in the last royal capital of Myanmar. Enjoy a beautiful view of the city from Mandalay Hill and visit the Mahamuni Pagoda, the one of Myanmar’s most sacred Buddha images.
After just one night in Mandalay, you’ll continue on to Inle Lake which you’ll reach with a direct flight from Mandalay to Heho, followed by a short car journey to the Lake’s edge. From here you’ll be whisked away to a specially designed boat that acts as a private floating restaurant for lunch, a truly magical experience. In the afternoon a luxury boat will be provided to take you around Inle Lake in style with limited noise pollution and extra amenities such as fleece blankets. As you explore you’ll pass floating gardens, markets and see the local communities who live and work around the lake. The following day we have included a unique cooking class that takes place at Inthar Heritage House and where you’ll learn all about the Intha culture, the indigenous people of the lake. On Inle Lake we have included a stay for you at Sanctum Inle Resort, one of the newest and most luxurious properties in the area.
Finally to end your epic adventure you will fly to Ngapali on the west coast of Myanmar for some well deserved beach time at the delightful Ngaplai Bay Villas and Spa where you will have your own pool villa overlooking the Indian Ocean.
