America's national parks are its crowning glory; vast expanses of forest, cascading waterfalls and awe-inspiring desert rock formations await. Visit five national parks and monuments seeped in history, for hiking, wildlife and adventure at every turn. This itinerary includes exceptional guiding throughout.

  1. Days 1-2: San Francisco

Start your adventure with a night in the city of San Francisco, with one night at the historical Cavallo Point, located within the Golden Gate National Park. A simple drive from the airport, you’ll enjoy iconic views of the bridge and the bright lights of the city beyond. Famed for its excellent restaurant the Murray Circle, it is a great place to start your National Parks itinerary.

Accommodation: Cavallo Point Lodge (1 night)

  2. Days 2-4: Yosemite National Park

The next morning, drive east to California’s Yosemite National Park. A land full of lush valleys, towering sequoias and tumbling waterfalls, Yosemite offers you the perfect introduction to the national parks of America. As one of the oldest, it is also one of the most iconic, and for good reason too. Each spring when the snow melts, Yosemite's falls come alive with rushing water and resident wildlife emerge from their hibernation. Crowds can be plentiful, but with a private guide to accompany you on a full day hike, you'll be able to escape the busiest spots and get the best views of the most iconic.

Accommodation: Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite (2 nights)

  3. Days 4-6: Grand Canyon

After two nights, drive to Fresno airport for your flight to Phoenix, Arizona. Upon arrival, you’ll collect another vehicle, and drive roughly three hours to the Grand Canyon, a majestic national park straddling the south western states of both Nevada and Arizona. Spend a day with an expert guide to explore the canyon and all of its glory and admire the glorious Colorado River. We’ve also included a 45-minute helicopter flight, as no visit is complete without appreciating this wonder of the world from the air.

Accommodation: The Grand Hotel (2 nights)

  4. Days 6-7: Monument Valley

From the Grand Canyon, pass soaring red rock formations and vast expanse of desert before arriving in Monument Navajo Tribal Park. You'll be transported back to the cowboy era as you spend a night in The View Hotel, overlooking the iconic valley. With a private Navajo guide, you can learn about the history and current culture of the Navajo people and enjoy a three-hour guided exploration of the indigenous lands including petroglyphs and if of interest, visiting famous scenes from Hollywood movies.

Accommodation: The View Monument Valley (1 night)

  5. Days 7-9: Lake Powell

From here, it is a scenic drive to Lake Powell, a beautiful fresh water lake in the heart of the Utah desert. We’ve included a visit to Antelope Canyon (as well as two other lesser known canyons), an iconic slot canyon with a walkable pathway sandwiched between two towering desert walls. This natural wonder is a photography dream as the canyon walls climb 120ft high and feature red-hued swirling sandstone patterns. Whilst here, you may also want us to arrange a private or shared boat excursion on the lake from one of the marinas.

Accommodation: Lake Powell Resort (2 nights)

  6. Days 9-10: Springdale

From Lake Powell, you'll make a simple drive to Zion National Park, where the flowing Virgin River meets spectacular red rock canyons. Zion is blessed with a lush valley floor from the Virgin river, making it one of the most beautiful desert national parks. Explore on foot and hike the famous trails of Zion, we’ve included a private guide to take you off to explore the ‘narrows’ of the river canyons or be challenged to a vertical climb. You might also want to try canyoneering instead, or a private jeep safari, which we can easily arrange.

Accommodation: Desert Pearl Inn (1 night)

  7. Days 10-13: Yellowstone & Grand Teton

From Zion National Park, you will fly to Jackson Hole via Salt Lake City, for a true finale to this holiday in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park’s. We’ve also selected a full day private guided exploration of Yellowstone, here it is the geology that is the star of the show, from bubbling pools to extraordinary geysers like Old Faithful. Of course, keep your eyes peeled for wandering grizzly bears, bighorn sheep and elk along the way, as your guide tells tales of America's most loved national parks.
