In the southern half of Australia the seasons are the opposite of those in the northern hemisphere: spring comes in September, summer is from December to February, autumn runs from March to May, and winter begins in June.
Sydney is great to visit year round but if you want warm sun and dry weather it is best to try between November and April. Their winter months of May - October usually have mild weather so you can still enjoy all the sights.
To start planning your holiday to Ovolo Woolloomooloo
Sydney's luxury Ovolo Woolloomooloo has transformed an historic wharf building into a trendy boutique property situated just 10 minutes walk from the Opera House. Enjoy cool, contemporary living with an abundance of dining options on your doorstep.
A Small Luxury Hotel of the World, located on Woolloomooloo Bay, this award winning boutique hotel forms part of the redevelopment of the historic Finger Wharf on Sydney Harbour. Finger Wharf was an operational working wharf for much for the 20th Century but as new ports were built in the 1970's by the 1980's it was derelict and destined for demolition - thankfully the wharf was saved and today is home to some of Sydney's most fashionable restaurants, bars and apartments.
Taking its inspiration from the original façade, Ovolo Woolloomooloo boasts a contemporary sophisticated design - the guest rooms retain the authenticity of the historic wharf whilst offering stylish modern furnishings and many are split-level, loft style rooms full of character. Each room has fabulous views of either the Sydney Harbour foreshores or the eclectic Woolloomooloo Bay village. The decor is modern and trendy, a little tongue-in-cheek and certainly a little eccentric in places with splashes of colour throughtout. All rooms enjoy extra amenities including a complimentary mini-bar stocked with non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, the latest technology such as Apple TVs and guests can enjoy complimentary drinks pre-dinner in the main bar.
Some of Australia’s leading restaurants are located all along the wharf with many celebrity chefs hankering to be located in this vibrant, fashionable area. Blue’s Water Bar has been named ‘One of the Top Ten Bars in the World’ is known to be frequented by visiting local and international celebrities.
Ovolo Woolloomooloo has an indoor swimming pool, fully equipped gym and outdoor sundeck for guests and the central business and shopping district, Sydney Opera House and the adjacent Royal Botanical Gardens are all within an easy walk.
Ovolo Woolloomooloo's 100 guest rooms and suites include 36 stunning loft rooms. Each room has been designed around the original heritage-listed wharf features with unique and modern decor, Apple TVs, high speed wifi and other mod cons. Due to the quirky nature of the building there are many different rooms types with varying views and configurations, the highlight being the Ultra Loft Suites, split level with spacious living areas downstairs and amazing city views.
Children are more than welcome at Ovolo Woolloomooloo and there is so much for kids to see and do nearby, but there are no formal childcare facilities other than babysitting which can be arranged on request.
From Ovolo Woolloomooloo there is a plethora of activities and sights including nearby golf courses, art galleries, museums, Bondi Beach, harbour cruises, the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb, Sydney Opera House, zoo, aquarium, theatre and the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens.

Ovolo Woolloomooloo is one of Sydney's newest and hippest addresses. The wharf itself is buzzing with some of the city's top restaurants and the recent renovation of the hotel has brought it into the realms of a modern, trendy design hotel. The location isn't as central as most of the others we use - it's on the water but takes around 30 minutes to walk through the Botanical Gardens to reach the Opera House and Circular Quay. If it's your first visit to the city, you may find the location a little inconvenient. However if you've been before, or are visiting friends, and like the new modern stylings of the hotel, it's a great choice.

There are so many good hotels in Sydney, it is hard to choose between them. But I would always say pick one on the harbour if possible and Blue Hotel is, but just a bit further round from the Opera House and the Bridge. Set on an old wharf stretching out over the water, the hotel is contemporary and quirky in design and very much keeps in the industrial/ shipping design in the room décor. There are lots of restaurants along the wharf that you can easily access and a small indoor pool, but although it has many good attributes, it can’t compare in location and views of the hotels at Circular Quay.
