Shennongjia
Named after the mountain massif surrounding the area, Shennongjia harbours unique wildlife diversity which earns itself a spot inside the UNESCO's World Network of Biosphere Reserves. One of its icon is the endangered primate of golden snub-nosed monkey.
Shennongjia is also home to 874 species of deciduous woody plants and 12.9% of China's vascular plant species. Diverse fauna such as the clouded leopard, Asian black bear, Indian civet, Chinese goral, golden eagle and the Chinese giant salamander also calls the reserve home.
