Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Cambodia is hot all year round and the best time to visit is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. It starts to get wetter in May and the wettest months are September and October. It is still possible to visit during this time as rain usually falls as short sharp storms. November is a fantastic month to visit Cambodia as it is very green after the rainy season and the lakes and rivers are full of water.

With just five beautiful suites that sit within two unique Cambodian villas, Maison Polanka is a discrete sanctuary just a short drive from Angkor Wat. Small and intimate, it's ideal for those who want to avoid the more well-known hotels in Siem Reap.

Tucked behind Wat Polanka, Maison Polanka is a collection of stylish suites spread though two wonderful wooden villas. The villas were once a private home and they sit within luminous tropical gardens that are filled with glorious plants, birds and butterflies. The gardens are also home to a cool shimmering pool, a perfect respite from the heat.

The property is very well located, sitting close by to a leafy riverbed it's just minutes from the local markets as well as Wat Polanka, a fantastic 12th century Angkorian temple. The main Angkor Archaeological park and the centre of Siem Reap are also easily reached by car or by one of the complimentary vintage bicycles.

The two villas, The Khmer House and The Maison, accommodate up to ten adults and four children in total. The refined, stylish and well appointed rooms can be booked separately, but for bigger groups the entire hotel can booked privately as well. We feel the accommodation is great for both couples and families wanting something calm and peaceful.

Eating at Maison Polanka is a very relaxed affair; breakfasts and lunches can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace and at any time. Dinners are more romantic and lit by candles. Everything at the property is very low-key but attention to detail certainly hasn't been overlooked.

Maison Polanka feels very much like a sanctuary; it's tasteful, stylish and incredibly welcoming and we feel it's a great addition to what's on offer in and around Siem Reap.

There are two villas, The Maison and The Khmer House. The Maison was built in 1981 and is home to four of the rooms (Green, Purple, Yellow and Orange). The rooms can be rented out separately, or all four can be rented together to provide complete privacy. It's perfect for friends and families travelling together. The Maison is a beautiful blend of art, modern luxury and traditional Cambodian craftsmanship. The Khmer House is the fifth room available at Maison Polanka, but is essentially a private house; it's the largest space at the property and dates back to the 1940s. It's been beautifully restored to what is now a spoiling retreat with a huge terrace overlooking the gardens. Think polished wooden floors, traditional silk fabrics, hand woven rugs and modern stylish bathrooms.

Children are very welcome at Maison Polanka, and the flexibility of the rooms make it a good option for families. However, there are no specific facilities for them. Children would enjoy the cool pool, the bullock and ox cart rides as well as the complimentary bicycles on offer.

Maison Polanka is a very small boutique hotel so there's not a huge range of facilities, just a wonderful restaurant and a swimming pool.
