Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The best time of year to visit Panama is typically from December/January to April. The rainy season runs from May to December and tropical downpours can be torrential, so always pack good waterproofs if going at this time of year. Sunshine levels are highest in the winter months from January to April, so this is considered a great time to visit.

Description

In the heart of the historic Casco Viejo, the American Trade is a stylish boutique bolthole. Decor transports guests to the glamour of the 1920s, with hand-painted tiles, polished dark floors and shady courtyards. A small rooftop pool adds to the allure.

The American Trade Hotel, part of the Ace Hotel Group, occupies a lovingly restored landmark building in the historic UNESCO Casco Viejo district of Panama City. The neighbourhood was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. The property stands at the ecological and cultural crossroads of the Americas, deeply connected to both the historic Old Quarter and modern Panama City. The property and surrounding area are steeped in local heritage and culture, while the hotel has been thoroughly outfitted with the contemporary amenities and modern luxuries.

The American Trade Hotel affords 50 beautifully decorated guest rooms. Corner rooms with balconies offer fantastic views across the historic plaza and the Panoramic rooms have floor to ceiling windows for stunning views to Panama Bay. All the rooms are light and airy, with sumptuous king sized beds and 100% Turkish cotton bath robes. For added luxury Aesop toiletries are waiting in the bathroom.

Chef Clara Icaza, named by Gatopardo Magazine as one of the top 20 young chefs in Latin America, helms The Dining Room at American Trade Hotel. For The Dining Room's sophisticated lunch and dinner menus, Icaza's focus is wholly ingredient-driven — her innovative take on classic meat and seafood dishes distinguished by their commitment to fresh, local and seasonal components. She's paired it all with an impressive global wine list, a studious cocktail menu, dessert selections prepared under the direction of Pastry Chef Luis Bula and a communal atmosphere that's warm and welcoming to guests and locals alike.
