Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Guatemala is known as, “The land of eternal spring”. Temperatures in the highlands are mild and vary little during the year. Average temperatures are highs of 77F and lows of 55F. May to October is the rainy season but this doesn’t affect all areas and more often means sunny mornings with showers beginning around 4pm. June is the month with the higher average pluvial precipitation peaks. July and August typically offer a week of dry weather known as the “Indian summer”, which can be an ideal time to travel. November to February is the dry-cold season when there is little to no rain but temperatures can be cool, especially in the early morning and evening. These months have the lower peaks of temperature in January, and low average ranges in pluvial precipitation. March to April is the dry-warm season when the weather is hot and dry. The higher temperature peaks are in April and also the lower precipitation averages.

The height of the foreign tourist season is from Christmas to Easter. Things become acute around Christmas, New Year’s and Easter, when Guatemalans take holidays too – we recommend booking many months in advance. Another high season runs June to August.

To start planning your holiday to Meson Panza Verde

Meson Panza Verde is a stunning boutique hotel with only 12 guest rooms and suites, a fantastic atmosphere and delicious food, just a short stroll from Antigua's main square. The hotel only accepts children over 15, ensuring a decidedly grown up feel.

Meson Panza Verde is a charming boutique hotel which sits a 10-minute stroll from Antigua's main square, making it peaceful yet ensuring the city's key sights are within easy reach. Antigua is considered one of the most beautiful colonial cities in the Americas, and its easy to see why when you head up to the rooftop of Meson Panza Verde, soaking in the views of the vibrantly coloured buildings with a backdrop of huge volcanoes.

Just beyond the entrance of Meson Panza Verde, there is an inviting central garden and fountain surrounded by a veranda that is quintessentially Antiguan. During the evenings the hotel is lit by flickering candlelight and the overall feel is very traditional but extremely charming. Live music on some nights adds to the inviting atmosphere.

The 12 guest rooms all have comfortable beds, beautiful linen and large, spacious bathrooms which are decorated with colourful tiles. The restaurant serves delicious food, which is prepared by a Swiss chef and its reputation for "international cuisine with a twist" has made it a firm favourite amongst both Guatemalans and international travellers.

Meson Panza Verde's 12 rooms are each unique in design and filled with traditional style furniture and antiques, reflecting perfectly the city of Antigua's style. Rooms all have twin beds, queen beds or king beds and beautiful tiled bathrooms. Some also have Jacuzzis, terraces with hammocks, separate living rooms and fireplaces.

Children over the age of 15 are welcomed. There are no specific facilities for children but the hotel can work well for families with older teenagers.

Facilities include a small pool, a yoga studio, an art gallery and a restaurant serving excellent cuisine. There is also a rooftop terrace which offers spectacular views across the city, soaking in the dramatic backdrop of volcanoes.

Antigua is a highlight of any trip to Guatemala, with its cobblestone streets lined with charming, brightly coloured buildings, well preserved churches and convents and colourful local handicrafts. Excursions can also be arranged out of the city to some of the bustling local markets such as Chichicastenango and Sololá and to hike the Pacaya volcano.

A great hotel option close to the city center with beautifully colonial-styled, well sized rooms and huge bathrooms! The restaurant is really one of the best in town - and worth visiting for one meal even if not staying in the hotel! Ocasionally on weekends there is live music in the restaurant and bar - a fantastic experience if enjoying the evening, however can get a little noisy in the rooms surrounding the main area for those trying to get an early night.

Rich and tasteful in dcor, Meson Panza Verde is a wonderul boutique hotel located just 10 mins walk from the main plaza. Although still remaining boutique, Meson Panza Verde is bigger in comparison to some of the other boutique hotels in Antigua, as a result that feeling of exclusivity is slightly lost. However that is easily made up by its beatiful rooms, all have wonderfully high-ceilings and remain true to their guatemalan roots in terms of styles. The bathroom are particularly gorgeous, the big and beautifully tiled bathtubs are drowned in extravagant white drapes which only make them more inviting. Meson Panza Verde also has an award-winning Oro de Tenedor restaurant with live music wed-sat, which you won't find in some of the smaller properties. Another thing to bear in mind is that they only accept children over 15yrs old.
