Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.

Insider's View

Parrot Cay is a great place for celebrity spotting. Bruce Willis, Keith Richards and Donna Karen all have villas on the island

The food at both restaurants is to die for. Asian fusion at the Lotus Restaurant and Mediterranean at The Terrace. Try the soft shell crab Maki or Wagyu beef burger; the latter is filling, but definitely worth it!

You can canoe through the middle of the island here or cycle around the pathways

Local islanders are known as "Belongers"

Try the signature COMO Shambala massage - it's a dream!

To start planning your holiday to COMO Parrot Cay

A fashionable and romantic hideaway, where Asia meets the Caribbean. COMO Parrot Cay is full of secluded coves, pristine white sandy beaches and unspoilt reefs, and forms part of the stunning Turks and Caicos archipelago in the north of the Caribbean.

Parrot Cay is one of 40 small islands in the Turks and Caicos archipelago, the only private island in the Turks and Caicos and it is just a 35-minute boat transfer from Providenciales island. Crystal clear waters surround the cay and its three miles of white sand beaches, and there are groves of cactus, mangroves and wetlands within the island’s 1,000 secluded acres.

COMO Parrot Cay is designed with simplicity in mind, combining elements of colonial decor with the lavish use of white fabrics and teak flooring and furnishings. There are 60 rooms, suites and villas, all with Indonesian four-poster beds and spacious terraces or balconies. Many of the beach villas and houses are located right on the beach with direct access and all offer the ultimate private retreat. Each of the two-bedroom villas features a gorgeous living room with a spacious dining area leading out onto the sundeck, equipped with a heated swimming pool and outside dining pavilion. These larger villas, as well as the COMO Villas, also provide a kitchen and private butler service to see to every guests' needs.

COMO Parrot Cay boasts a large and stunning infinity pool, two floodlit tennis courts, nature trails and a range of non-motorised water sports available. The snorkelling and diving are excellent and, for relaxation, holistic Asian-inspired treatments and complimentary yoga and pilates classes are offered at the award-winning COMO Shambhala Spa. The spa is located in low-lying pavilions with nine treatment rooms overlooking the North Caicos Channel and the island's wetlands, rich with bird life. Two restaurants and two bars offer a wealth of delicious cuisines in various settings, and private dining can be arranged on the decks or verandas of suites and villas for an intimate experience.

For our younger guests, COMO Parrot Cay has a variety of children's activities which are customised for each guest. From pirate themed scavenger hunts to sailing trips around the island, there will be a new adventure every day!

When you arrive on Providenciales, you are taken for a short drive to the dock and here your holiday starts. You are welcomed at the pavilion with a cold towel and a refreshing drink, followed by your 25 minute speedboat ride to the island. It houses a mixture of rooms that face the tropical gardens or the ocean, or you can splash out on one of the spacious villas - anything up to 11 bedrooms! I was lucky enough to stay in the 3 Bedroom Island Villa - this has the most gorgeous swimming pool and leads straight onto the beach. Sarba, my Butler, was on hand to ensure I could get to anywhere on the island, whether it be the Spa for a lovely COMO Shambala signature massage, or to the restaurant for a delicious dinner at whatever time I wished. It's not for anyone looking for lots of nightlife, however if you want a relaxing get-away-from-it-all experience on an exclusive private island, this is the place for you!

I was lucky enough to enjoy an incredible stay at COMO Parrot Cay for a couple of nights in one of their stunning Island Villas which has 3 beautiful bedrooms with en-suite, a large infinity edged pool and direct access out onto the beach.

Parrot Cay is just the most gorgeous place in the world, the beaches here are powder white and run as far as the eye can see and most of the time you will have the beach totally to yourself. You really feel like you have arrived in paradise.

Each of the villas have their own dedicated butler who will greet you and be there to look after you throughout your stay, their service is absolutely out of this world and I was really impressed with the way my needs were pre empted. An example of this was one evening when I decided to take a swim before getting ready for dinner, I stepped out of my bedroom onto the decking and got into the pool to swim some lengths, just before I was about to get out of the pool I noticed that my butler had come out and placed my robe out for me to use when I came out of the pool, I hadn't even realised she had seen me go in the pool and she had discreetly gone and collected it from my bathroom and placed it out ready for me! Service like this makes you feel totally pampered and looked after, enabling you to really switch off. After just two days on the island I left feeling relaxed and wondering how I would cope again having to think for myself! A week or longer here would just be a dream.

COMO Parrot Cay is located 30 minutes from Providenciales or 'Provo' to the locals, wrapped in swathes of white powdery sand, waters that alternate from turquoise, aquamarine, azure to cobalt blue - gin clear water that laps the beach by day and lulls you to sleep at night. It was incredible to think there were over 1,000 unspoiled acres of wetlands and a mile long powdered beach which wraps around the property stretching from the magnificent private residences and villas down to the last remaining beach house at the other end of the property. Our home was the most heavenly white washed beach house with romantic four posters with billowing white nets, a cathedral vaulted living room in cool white washed teak which opened onto a warm teak deck yards from our private pool and the exquisite colours of the sea beyond. Waking up in the morning to that view and the privacy the two bedroom beach house offered was to be Robinson Crusoe - but with Jonson providing the elf like touches that only princesses dream of.

Our breakfasts of fresh fruit and any other delectation Jonson could dream off started a perfect day - as I completed my early morning dip to sit and savour the delicious food that COMO Parrot Cay is renowned for. Had you wished to have saluted the sun yourself, there are yoga classes, endless trails you can walk or bike through manicured gardens, beautiful shrubs and flowers with always a glimpse of the ocean close by.

I cannot remember how the days passed but they slipped by in a blur of smiling faces, delicious and healthy food, fresh grilled lobster one night with a private BBQ in our glorious beach house, cool mojitos in the bar as Caribbean music gently competed with the background sound of the waves. I was lucky enough to experience the total out of body experiences at the hands of Mara in the COMO Shambhala Retreat where all I wanted to do was try out the Asian-inspired therapies which read like treats from Arabian Nights. Wrapped in the delicious signature scent of COMO Shambhala wafting continuously past your nose as you sipped on their ginger tea and watched the wetlands shimmering in the distance from the relaxation terrace was the perfect way to sink into a blissful reverie. The COMO Shambhala facial took years off my face or perhaps that was the dreamless sleep I fell into having sat as long as I could by my pool staring at millions of stars strewn across a black velvet sky.

Lunch was taken by the endless shimmer of blue in the hotel's main pool reflecting prisms of light as you ate deliciously prepared lunches in Lotus surrounded by emerald palms. Whether you chose to eat in your own villa or beach house, in the Terrace Mediterranean style restaurant or in Lotus by the pool, the food is a wonderful concoction of simple dishes offering an explosion of taste and freshness. Whether your taste is for the best Wagyu beef, local fish, fresh lobster or a salad so colourful it seems a shame to eat - COMO Parrot Cay can offer it all. Barefoot chic and days of long lazy rhythm is what COMO Parrot Cay is all about. If you want the bright lights and bustle of all singing and dancing resorts, then our second stop in Grace Bay would be for you but here is where you forget the 'real' word exists, kick back and enjoy a genuine piece of paradise.

From the moment you arrive at COMO Parrot Cay's private dock, you know you're going somewhere very special and exclusive. Yet there's no ceremony here, just relaxed laid back calm as they usher you on to their private speedboat out to the island. In under half an hour you are docking at COMO Parrot Cay, where you are whisked to the main house to check in. This is where the majority of the accommodation is, set in lovely gardens and just a short stroll from the beach. The rooms and suites are simply styled yet very comfortable, there are no marble bathrooms here, however, COMO Parrot Cay is much more than just your room. Step out onto powder white sand that seems to go on for eternity and if you walk beyond the main hotel area, you will rarely spot another guest on it. The sea is calm and turquoise and crystal clear, and ever so warm, I recommend an early morning dip.

If simpler accommodations don't appeal yet COMO Parrot Cay does, fear not. The island also houses an array of stunning villas and larger suites that will offer every luxury. Bruce Willis, Donna Karan and Keith Richards all own houses on the island, all of which can be rented for your stay. I stayed in one of the 3 bedroom COMO villas which were absolutely sublime, with private pools, every modern comfort and a private path directly down to the beach. If you can afford one of these, go for it, they are amazing!

So COMO Parrot Cay can be your playground for as long as you want. You won't find loud bars or casinos here, just a tranquil away from it all hideaway with like minded people and don't be surprised if you're sat next to an A list celebrity at dinner either, there's a reason they love it here too!

Play the superstar at this picture-perfect island resort with its celebrity clientele and excellent service

. First things first: this place is expensive. In fact, it's really expensive. But if you're going to blow your budget out of the aquamarine water, this has to be the way to go. Powdery white sand, a champagne welcome and one of the world's best spas, it looks like hotelier Christina Ong has created another cracker with Parrot Cay. No surprise then that the guests are a veritable Who's Who of A-listers, Kate Moss, Donna Karan and Julia Roberts amongst them. So what do they flock here for? Answer: the peace, privacy and pamper factor. There's very little to do except kick back and rejuvenate, which is why its also a honeymoon hotspot.

Minimalist in design, with Balinese teak furniture, immaculate white linens, terracotta floors and loads of windows, the interiors scream understated class. The service is said to be excellent, the organic food sublime. You can be totally private and your only real concerns will be SPF15 or SPF20? Lobster for dinner or five-spiced sea bass? If you're going to splurge on a trip of a lifetime, then this is a serious candidate for your cash.
