Fantastic Big five game experience
Private game reserve so far from the crowds
Enjoy incredible panoramic views
Fantastic stargazing from the bush observatory
Let your little ones become rangers for the day in the cubs club
There is no bad time to go on safari in the Kruger National Park. The experience does, however, change from month to month. In the summer months (October to March), it gets very hot. The verdant vistas are all the more spectacular because of the rains, but this means that the foliage is denser, water is more abundant and game is therefore trickier to see. There are lots of beautiful migratory birds during the summer months. While the daytime temperature in the winter months (May to September) is ideal, it does get a little chilly at night and in the early morning.
The views are absolutely breath-taking!

One of Sir Richard Branson's famous safari lodges in the Sabi Sands, Kruger, Ulusaba Rock Lodge is the epitome of style and comfort in the bush and commands some of the most stunning views in the area combined with exceptional service.
Perched high on a rocky kopje, Ulusaba Rock Lodge has an incredible position overlooking miles and miles of lowveld bush, the views stretching to the Drakensberg Mountain Range in the distance. The lodge, owned by Sir Richard Branson, and epitomising his ethos of safari luxury, comprises of two Makwela suites, four Rock Cliff Rooms and a stunning Master Suite - perfect for honeymooners.
Ulusaba is set in its own private game reserve, meaning that game drives are almost exclusive - set out early with your expert guide in their well-equipped vehicles or on foot to explore this pristine and game-rich area. After your activity indulge yourself in Ulusaba Rock Lodge's spa with an aromatherapy treatment. For those feeling more active, the lodge also has a fully equipped gym.
Activities at Ulusaba include day and night game drives in the reserves 10,000 hectares of bush. It plays host to the Big Five, as well as a large variety of plains game, ensuring your safari is rich and varied. In the evenings, after a delicious meal, your ranger will take you star gazing in the lodges own purpose built observatory, so you can observe the heavens in the clearest of African skies.
Separate to Rock Lodge is Cliff Lodge, Ulusaba's exceptional Private House which has just two incredibly spacious suites with stunning views. Cliff Lodge is linked to Rock Lodge by a raised walkway giving you access to all the facilities of the main lodge. It can be hired out exclusively (accommodating up to five adults and four children) and on this basis comes with its own private chef, ranger and game drive vehicle.
There are ten rooms and suites individually designed with décor that incorporates modern and traditional African art. There are four Rock Cliff rooms, one Master Suite, two Makwela Suites and one two-bedroom Rock Suite. The Master Suite and Makwela Suites all have private plunge pools.
At Ulusaba, kids up to 11 years old can stay at Rock Lodge and are invited to join the Cub's Club, who offer a range of activities tailored to each child or group together with Cub's cuisine. Babysitting is complimentary and run by experienced staff members.
When not occupied on a walking safari or twice daily game drive, take a dip in the swimming pools or indulge in a spa treatment. For the more active, there are tennis courts and gyms available.
Don't forget to try a few South African wines from the wine cellar and after dinner enjoy a spot of stargazing at the bush observatory.
Go on private or shared game drives in the world famous Greater Kruger Area, South Africa to see the Big 5 - lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino - and a host of other animals. The Kruger is also a brilliant spot for birders so pack some binoculars.
The Sabi Sands is widely regarded as one of the most rewarding regions for spotting leopard in Africa. With good populations and the ability to go on night game-drives which coincides when these big cats are most active, all you need is good timing!
Ulusaba Private Game Reserve is located in the western sector of the Sabi Sand Reserve. Close to Kruger National Park which is in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa.
