Garden Route enjoys a moderate climate all year round. In peak summer season, from December to February, temperatures can climb as high as 34ºC, although winter temperatures can drop to as low as 4ºC. Generally, this season has many sunny days with high wind at times. During the winter months of June, July, and August, expect frequent rains and a couple of chilly evenings. From June to December, the Southern Right Whale (Eubalaena australis) graces Walker Bay with its massive presence.
Laird's Lodge is a Cape Dutch country house set in a 24 acre private estate between the two popular Garden Route towns of Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. This is a relaxing place to stay with in easy reach of the beaches and activities of the area.

Indoors, the front lounge has comfortable seating, a small library, complimentary internet access, wood burning fireplace, and satellite television. The brandy lounge has cosy seating arrangements ideal for enjoying an aged after dinner brandy or whisky, along with a separate large screen television area for the sports enthusiast.
Each of the rooms at Laird's is en-suite and features high-ceilings, huge beds and individually designed interiors. In case it is needed in the hot summer months, all rooms have air conditioning. Gowns, room safes, telephones and well stocked tea and coffee stations are all included.
Delicious breakfasts are served each morning and include: fresh fruits, just-baked breads, croissants and muffins, homemade jams and preserves and cooked specialities. In the evening, pre-dinner drinks are enjoyed around heated braziers in the candlelit courtyard or in the informal brandy lounge. Specialising in seafood and game dishes, the Lodge boasts one of the finest menus in the Garden Route.
For anyone looking to get off the beaten track then Lairds is the perfect getaway. Set in 24 Hectares of garden and natural forest you can relax by the pool with a cold drink while watching monkeys jump through the surrounding trees and listen the chorus of bird calls. The quiet unassuming hotel itself was perfectly positioned to get away from the world but still only be 15 minutes from the beaches and Buzz of Plettenberg Bay itself. While you may want to go out and enjoy dinner in town some nights the food at the Lairds is definitely not to be missed!
