For the first time ever, Singita Explore is inviting runners of all levels to join a 5-day, 90km+- all-woman run across the untouched wilderness areas of the Singita Grumeti private concession in the western corridor of the Serengeti, home to a plethora of wildlife and a unique ecosystem. This exclusive, purpose-driven opportunity will raise funds for girls and women’s empowerment programmes, specifically focused on providing opportunities for women to become leaders in conservation. Whether on foot or supporting in the shadow vehicle, guests will participate in this multi-stage journey and also have the opportunity to engage with local girls and learn more about Singita Grumeti Fund’s work in the region.
Each evening guests can enjoy guided game drives, exploring the teeming plains of this exclusive 350,000 acre protected reserve. On completion of the run on day six, the runners will learn more about Singita Grumeti Fund’s successful anti-poaching strategy including a visit to the canine unit and the Joint Operations Centre to meet the anti-poaching team. This unique running safari includes five nights in privately hosted, luxury tented accommodation at Singita Explore, staying in a beautifully designed camp with a prime position to view pristine wilderness and the wildlife of the Serengeti. Guests have exclusive access to Singita’s concession offering incredible up-close wildlife encounters. The camp is particularly appealing to those in search of an opportunity to connect with the earth and wildlife in a way they have never done before.
This trip runs from October 19th-24th, 2018 at a reduced price of $1,413 per person for the all-inclusive 5-night package, plus a tax deductible donation of $15,000 per person will be used to fund women's empowerment and leadership programmes in the Serengeti including scholarships for local girls in secondary school, vocational studies and university, costs associated with training mentors for girls, life skills training, internships, girls’ empowerment events, costs associated with participation in 'Rock Girl on the Road', environmental education for girls from local secondary schools and enterprise development training for women.
