Ala Archa National Park Hike
Enjoy an excursion the explore the great Kyrgyzstan's outdoors at Ala Archa National Park. You may hike to the Tepshi Plato, or if time and energy permits, to the waterfall.
Only 40km south of Bishkek, Ala Archa National Park is a great day trip from Kyrgyzstan's capital. It is known for its pretty gorges and the snow-capped mountain peaks of Tian Shan mountain range whilst the park is also home to valleys filled with pine forests, waterfalls and rushing rivers.
The first part of your trek starts from an elevation of 2,200 metres, ascending for 1.5 kilometres or approximately 1 hour into Broken Heart, located at 2,377 metres above sea level.
Afterwards, you will continue for another 1.8 kilometres or approximatrely 1 hour 20 minutes into the Tepshi Plato, located at 2,458 metres. The open field of Tepshi Plato is stunning with seasonal flowers.
From here, if you are keen, you may proceed for a longer 4 kilometre hike, taking approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes into a waterfall, located at 2,665 metres.
Please remember to take hat and good trekking boots. Other useful things which you may want to bring are windbreaker, walking sticks, water flask, sunglasses, photo camera, sun screen for 30 SPF or higher.
