Karakol

Karakol lies on the eastern shores of Lake Issyk Kul, surrounded by orchards and far off mountain peaks. This small town was once a Russian outpost but today operates as the main hub for the spectacular treks in the surrounding Tienshan Mountains. With a charming and unique blend of architecture ranging from Chinese to French, Karakol is also home to a traditional bazaar and livestock market.

Karakol

Close to the Chinese border and nestling into the foothills of the Tianshan Mountains, Karakol is a charming city of wooden cottages and tree-lined streets. With mosques, orthodox churches and a small cathedral, compact Karakol has an interesting history and is the best base for exploring the many wonders of Lake Issyk Kul.
