Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve
Aksu-Zhabagly is Central Asia’s oldest nature reserve, offering a rich and varied landscape, with Kyzyl Kum semi-desert to Tian Shan and Karatau mountains in the North. The Aksu river passes through the area with a 500-meter deep Aksu Canyon. The UNESCO-listed Aksu-Zhabagly is a unique wilderness experience where marmots, ibex, lynx, wolves, bears, argalis and deers live. The elusive snow leopards roam the high mountains of this area as well.
