Things to Do in Georgia
As we know, Georgian food is up there with one of the world's most famous cuisines, it offers a sumptuous fusion of flavours in between Persian and Mediterranean cuisine. The food represents and compliments the country’s geographical location perfectly. With Scott Dunn, one of our favourite experiences is arranging a cooking class at a traditional Georgian restaurant and learn how to make the famous khinkali dumplings.
Georgia is one of the oldest wine regions in the world and commonly thought to be the birthplace of wine. Visit the region of Kakheti, the biggest and the most important winemaking region in Georgia, which is famous for its welcoming hospitality, delicious food and ancient Georgian technique of winemaking which dates back to the 8th century BC and is still used to produce unique organic Qvevri wine. For those keen to stretch their legs and enjoy the great outdoors, western Georgia has great trekking routes through meandering valleys or up towards sky high peaks, a favourite of ours is the Mazeri trek where you can gaze at the twin peak of Mount Ushba. It is truly stunning with its snow-capped mountains and unique jutting rock formation.
