Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

There's never a bad time to visit the Galapagos. The peak season lasts from mid-June through early September and from mid-December through mid-January. The national park limits the number of visitors to each island and coordinates each ship's itinerary, so the Galapagos will never feel like Disney World. But if you visit in the summer, you are less likely to feel a sense of solitude and isolation.

From December through to May the water and the air are warmer, but this is the rainy season. It drizzles almost daily for a short period of time. Ironically, this is also the sunniest time of year.

June through November, the Humboldt Current makes it way up to the Galápagos from the southern end of South America. The current brings cold water and cold weather, but it also brings water rich in nutrients and plankton, which attracts fish and birds. During this season there always seem to be clouds in the air, but it rarely rains. It's also quite windy, and the seas tend to be rougher.

Description

The Stella Maris is an ultra luxurious yacht which sails the Galapagos Islands, exclusively for families or groups that wish to privately charter a boat. Handpicked naturalist guides accompany you to ensure an incredible wildlife experience.

Accommodating up to 14 passengers, the Stella Maris offers one of the most exclusive experiences in the Galapagos Islands, and is ideal for anyone wishing to opt for a private charter. The staff on board are there to ensure you are looked after every step of the way, whether at meal times, in your free time on board or out on island excursions. Naturalist guides are carefully handpicked to accompany you on excursions and give you an insight into the incredible and diverse flora and fauna that can be found on this remote archipelago.

The Galapagos Islands offer an unparalleled wildlife experience, with hundreds of endemic species frequenting this volcanic archipelago. Head out on twice daily excursions either on land or in the water and encounter sea lions, sharks, sea turtles, giant tortoises, brightly coloured sally-lightfoot crabs and blue-footed boobies, as well as a multitude of other weird and wonderful creatures. Excursions will include snorkelling, kayaking, hiking across barren volcanic islands and through lush forested highlands and visits to the Charles Darwin research centre, as well as other key sites.

The Stella Maris itself affords luxurious cabins with lavish furnishings, along with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy in your free time, with sun loungers and even a Jacuzzi on the upper deck. Meals can be enjoyed al fresco or in the dining room, and the food is prepared beautifully, often consisting of typical Ecuadorian dishes and plenty of fresh seafood.
