Riding the Peak 2 Peak Gondola

Skiing the whole of Whistler Blackcomb used to be fairly difficult as people generally did one mountain or the other, which meant that the lifts and the last runs down every day would get fairly busy. When the resort opened the Peak 2 Peak gondola it connected the two mountains, making it easy to ski both mountains in one day, even one morning. This gondola is simply breathtaking, it is a 4.4km journey in only 15 minutes. It actually breaks three world records, it is the longest unsupported span of 3.024 km, it is also the highest lift of its kinds at 436 metres above the valley floor. Finally, it does also complete the largest continuous lift system in the world.
There are spectacular views from the gondola, 360 degrees in fact, you can see the Fitzsimmons river very clearly, which is the river that runs through the valley that separates the two mountains. One of the best things about the gondola is that even pedestrians can use it, so even if you’re not skiing you can go up and meet those who are and enjoy an excellent lunch in one of the mountain eateries on offer.
This is definitely something to experience whilst in Whistler Blackcomb, and to be honest it is the best way to get the most out of both mountains.
