Average time to visit

High season is generally December to April when it's warm and humid. The spring time - September - October - is a lovely time of year before the humidity is too much. The highest rainfall at the Iguazu Falls is between May and July, where the falls will be at their fiercest, but they are spectacular year-round. On the coast, temperatures rarely exceed 30°C and generally do not fall below 13°C (nighttimes in July). Even in winter (June-September), when rates are lower, daytime temperatures usually reach 21°C. Rainfall is a possibility throughout the year, but January and February often experience slightly heavier showers.

We design each itinerary around you, so this suggested itinerary is a starting point that we can tweak or transform into something completely bespoke to you. To start planning your holiday

A perfect honeymoon itinerary, combining Brazil's carnival spirit, dramatic landscapes and beaches, staying in luxury hotels throughout. Soak up the vibrant culture in Rio de Janeiro, marvel at the dramatic Iguazu Falls and relax on a beautiful beach at a boutique hotel on the coast for the ultimate romantic end to your trip.

  1. Fly to Rio de Janeiro

  2. Days 1-4: Rio de Janeiro

Start your journey with three nights in Rio de Janeiro, sightseeing, spending your days soaking up the sun, enjoying the warm hospitality and dining on delicious traditional cuisine. Enjoy the dizzy heights of the Sugar Loaf mountain, rising above the bay or stand at the feet of the Christ the Redeemer statue which overlooks the city. An evening tour has been included so you can soak up the city’s top nightlife spots with a guide, discovering the lively Lapa scene.

Accommodation: Belmond Copacabana Palace (3 nights)

  3. Days 4-6: Iguassu

From here, head inland to the spectacular Iguazu Falls on the border with Argentina and Paraguay. These powerful waterfalls are up there with the Victoria Falls in Africa and Niagara in North America, and the views from the Brazilian side are second to none. You'll be staying in the beautiful Belmond Hotel das Cataratas, a two-minute stroll from the falls and the only property inside the national park which means you can explore as the sun begins to rise or set. Locations don't get better than this! A full day tour to the falls on the Argentinean side has been included.

Accommodation: Belmond Hotel das Cataratas (2 nights)

  4. Days 6-11: Florianopolis

Last but by no means least, fly to the beach to a true gem, Ponta das Ganchos on the Santa Catarina coastline near Florianopolis. Tucked away on a peninsula, you can unwind in style away from the crowds, soaking up the sun and indulging in the freshest seafood. Enjoy a romantic dinner on the small island opposite linked by a candlelit walkway, or cruise the waters in search of migratory whales if you're here between July and October. This paradise hideaway has gorgeous gardens, a tranquil spa and many of the rooms have private plunge pools, offering the ideal atmosphere for total relaxation and indulgence. If you'd rather be more active, there is plenty on offer here, including canoeing, sailing, snorkelling, hiking and horse-back riding. The region is famed for its oysters so make the most of it and head out on the hotel’s boat to sample a selection of these locally caught treats.

Accommodation: Ponta dos Ganchos (5 nights)
