Peterhof Half Day Tour

St Petersburg

Visit the spectacular fountains and dazzling halls of Peterhof, St Petersburg’s Versailles. The former Tsar’s residence serves up an impressive array of 64 fountains and 200 bronze statues in the Grand Cascade, and exquisitely decorated palace rooms.

Known as the Russian Versailles, Peterhof is the former residence of the Russian Court and was founded by Peter the Great.  Peterhof’s unique network of fountains, or Grand Cascade, is a spectacular array of 64 fountains and 200 bronze statues which stretch out in front of the Grand Palace. The centrepiece is the statue of Samson ripping open the jaws of a lion. Behind the fountains is the Grotto, where you can see the pipes that make them all work.  The rand Palace stands on a natural terrace facing the sea. Visit the palace’s interior, a collection of 30 art-adorned rooms and dazzling halls. The biggest room is The Throne Room, where you can see Peter’s red velvet throne. Head to The Picture Room to admire many different portraits, and the oriental East and West Chinese Cabinets.

Enjoy a traditional Russian lunch, before a stroll in the lovely gardens of Venus and Bacchus, which have French and English-style sections. Walk to the pier for a scenic, 30-minute hydrofoil journey back to the city.
