Sunshine, blue skies and temperatures averaging between 24°C and 27°C along the coast are the norm, except during the rainy summer season from about December/January through to April when everything gets soggy and sticky, and temperatures exceed 30°C in some areas. The best time to visit is from May/June to November, during the cooler dry season.
A luxurious 52 foot catamaran for sailing around the Quirimbas Archipelago, Ibo's yacht is the ultimate way to island hop around Mozambique in style. Spend your days enjoying sandbank picnics, diving and snorkelling pristine reefs or relaxing on deck.
Ibo's new catamaran charters offer a unique way to explore the Quirimbas Archipelago, sailing in a luxury yacht with skipper and crew from island to island. The catamaran is based at Ibo Island Lodge, but charters can also start or end at Medjumbe island or Quilalea island if you choose.
The yacht is hired out on an exclusive basis, and can accommodate up to eight guests, in four double or twin ensuite cabins, each air-conditioned. You can leave all of the hassle of sailing to the professional crew which include a skipper, first mate/host and dive instructor. The communal areas, cabins and deck are all beautifully fitted out, with plenty of comfortable areas to unwind in the shade or soak up the sun while you are sailing along. Charter of the yacht is possible from four nights or longer - we'd recommend a week to really get out to the further reaches of the Quirimbas and explore the archipelago properly.
Whilst on board, you have your pick of activities to enjoy, all of which is included in your costs. There are two inflatable sea kayaks, two stand up paddle boards, one windsurfer, top end fishing gear and tackle for deep sea fishing, everything you need for snorkelling (fins, masks and snorkels), dive gear (qualified divers only), a 3.5 metre tender with outboard and a 6.4 metre RIB with two outboard motors. As well as making use of these facilities, there will be explorations of tiny islands, picnics and sundowners on beautiful sandbanks and the possibility to explore areas of the Quirimbas otherwise untouched by visitors. For keen divers, it's possible to head out to the incredible dive site of St Lazarus Banks as part of your sailing expedition - renowned for offering some of the world's best diving.
Four well appointed cabins with either double or twin beds, each with air-conditioning and an en-suite bathroom.
There is no minimum age for children on board but parents must be responsible for their children at all times, and there are no babysitting facilities available as the crew all have full time responsibilities on board. There are children's life-vests available, and parents are welcome to bring along a child-minder or nanny as part of the group of eight if they wish.
The catamaran is based at Ibo Island Lodge, in the beautiful Quirimbas Archipelago in northern Mozambique. There are 32 islands in the archipelago, some uninhabited and all boasting stunning beaches, crystal clear waters for snorkelling and some superb diving opportunities. You'll explore these islands and reefs on the catamaran.
