Description

The five-star Zermatterhof is an elegant hotel with a setting and service that will not fail to make an impression. Epitomising traditional Alpine elegance, the Zermatterhof has a refined and glamourous atmosphere and good spa facilities.

One of Zermatt’s original hotels, the Zermatterhof has a refined ambience and oozes elegance at every turn. The rooms and suites are generally traditional in style, however, many have recently been given a make over to cleverly combine old and new.

Situated in the centre of the village and enjoying fantastic views of the Matterhorn, it is positioned back from the main high street in its own gardens. From the moment you arrive this hotel exudes traditional style. The hotel is within easy reach of the three main mountains and hiking areas.

Start the day with a hearty breakfast in the Prato Borni restaurant and enjoy a wide choice of French and Italian specialities in the evening. Al fresco dining at sunset or by candlelight is possible at the Lusi restaurant which serves light cuisine with a Mediterranean touch. There are 2 bars ideal for relaxing with a cocktail by the fire or listening to the pianist.

Relaxation facilities include a spacious pool, whirlpool, saunascape with sauna, steam bath, alpine grotto and ice grotto, or indulge yourself with a revitalising massage or beauty treatment in the spa. rooms.

Zermatt is a special place, steeped in Alpine history and overlooked by the iconic Matterhorn, in our opinion, car-free Zermatt has more charm, sophistication and romance than any other Alpine resort. The resort itself lies at an altitude of 1620 meters. Due to its southerly location, Zermatt shares part of its border with Italy and thus enjoys a mild climate with extended periods of sunshine. Although a beautiful and internationally renowned spot with numerous hotels, restaurants, bars and elegant shops, Zermatt has never lost any of its village charm and both in summer and winter remains an ideal spot for an active, refreshing or relaxing vacation.

Childcare

Children are welcome to come and stay at Zermatterhof, but there are no facilities.

Scott Dunn pioneered skiing holidays with childcare and this is an optional extra that many families consider indispensable. We offer childcare from 4 months and ensure that children have the most fantastic holidays and that parents can completely relax with peace of mind that their family is in great hands. Your children can be taken to and collected from ski lessons and will be kept entertained with a varied and imaginative activity programme and given healthy lunches and snacks (to be paid locally).

Our childcare staff are qualified professionals and guests here can opt to have a private nanny service. Babysitting is available too. A wide range of equipment for babies and toddlers can be provided to all guests on request, mostly free of charge.

Services

Please note - for formal dining men are required to wear jackets.

Facilities

The Prato Borni restaurant offers a large breakfast buffet and a wide choice of French and Italian specialities. Al fresco dining at sunset or by candlelight is possible at the Lusi restaurant which serves light cuisine with a Mediterranean touch. There are two bars ideal for relaxing with a cocktail by the fire while listening to the tinkling piano in the background.

Spa facilities include a spacious pool, whirlpool, saunascape with sauna, steam bath, alpine grotto and ice grotto, or indulge yourself with a revitalising massage or beauty treatment.

Activities

Zermatt has plenty to offer in the way of activities as well as for those who just want to kick back and relax and take in all the views of the Matterhorn, lush green meadows and lakes. Zermatt offers superb hiking, biking and rock climbing for all abilities. Guests can even partake in a spot of summer skiing if they wish as the height of the glacier means skiing is available 365 days a year.

With its 'Families Welcome' award Zermatt is a family friendly place with plenty of things for children to do. There are playgrounds in the mountains, family friendly hiking trails, gondola excursions, snow tubing and the Forest Fun Park with zip wires. Zermatt also has it's own mascot 'Wolli' and children from 6-16 can take part in the supervised Wolli Summer fun programme.

The village itself is a pleasure to explore and exploring the mountain is also straightforward with mountain railways and some wonderful walks, whether on foot, two wheels or in the air. If you would like a really close view of the Matterhorn, a helicopter flight around it is truly breathtaking.

Zermatt is much more of a cultural centre than many other resorts. The Matterhorn Museum is a must-see with fascinating exhibits and there are plenty of art galleries and churches and chapels to see to get more acquainted with the history of Zermatt.

There are also plenty more active possibilities including the fitness centre, indoor tennis and squash and gym.

This is one of Zermatt's oldest hotels, boasting a grand facade right in the centre of resort. The hotel is a typically traditional five star hotel, with a formal dining room and piano bar. You feel like you are part of a bygone era when staying here. It is perfectly located in the centre of the town, so you can try all the local restaurants and sample the famous Zermatt nightlife.
