The Algarve has a mild climate with more than 300 days of sunshine a year. The climate in the Algarve is generally warm and sunny in May with the risk of the odd shower of rain. Sometimes it can be cool in the evenings. By June the weather generally settles in a pattern of long hot sunny days and balmy evenings especially in July and August. Rain is unlikely but it can happen from time to time. Throughout the summer months it can be windy especially during the afternoon. June and September are particularly pleasurable months.

Vila Joya is a boutique hotel located on a secluded area of the Algarve coast, surrounded by the radiant blue Atlantic and a beautiful flower garden, and boasting direct access to a picturesque sandy stretch of beach.
With 22 individualised rooms and suites, a two Michelin star gourmet restaurant an impressive spa with separate fitness area, the Moorish style Vila Joya - formerly a private summer residence - is now one of the most beautiful privately-run boutique resorts in the Algarve. The property is characterised by its beautiful design, hand-picked furnishings and unique, untouched location.
There is a very big focus on gastronomy at Vila Joya. The terrace is the place where guests come together to enjoy beautiful views and spectacular cuisine. At lunch and dinnertime, the terrace is transformed into a two Michelin star restaurant headed by Dieter Koschina, the Austrian chef who has been working at Vila Joya for more than 28 years. The Atlantic Ocean on the doorstep of the villa is a great source of inspiration for the chef. He predominantly uses fresh and light ingredients from Portugal to produce a daily changing six-course tasting menu; placing particular emphasis on flavour and presentation.
For guests who fancy something lighter for lunch, the Pool Restaurant is the perfect place. Selected snacks, freshly grilled fish and delicious salads are served here daily all afternoon. Furthermore, the beach restaurant “Vila Joya Sea” offers guests an enchanting setting for enjoying light dishes, including salads, ceviche, freshly caught fish, grilled meat skewers and classic steak cuts served from a typical Japanese Robata open grill.
Vila Joya is a truly unique property where guests can totally unwind in a beautiful Eden-like setting, totally away from the hustle and bustle.
There are 13 spacious rooms and 9 suites at the property. Each room is unique and impresses with direct sea views, a casual sense of home style and accessories carefully selected. The rooms are characterised by their light and warm tones and their natural materials like linen, fine wool, stone and wood. This subtle decoration is in-keeping with the beautiful natural surroundings of the outside location. The region’s Moorish history is reflected in Portuguese craftsmanship: fireplaces, hand-painted azulejos and terracotta tiles produced by manufacturers in the Algarve, dark brown Portuguese cork flooring, Tadelakt plaster and natural stone showers bear testament to the owner’s ties with the local region. Each room includes a terrace or balcony, some with direct access to the garden.
Vila Joya is a more adult-focused property. There are no specific facilities for children.
The hotel offers Michelin-starred dining at the main restaurant for lunch and dinner. There is also a pool-side bar restaurant open for lunch and a small beach restaurant for lighter dining.
Vila Joya has a heated swimming pool and a quiet beach with access directly from the hotel gardens. The 350m2 Spa offers a second pool, an outdoor whirlpool, a sauna, steam bath, three treatment rooms, cosy relaxation rooms and a fitness area overlooking the sea. Warm colours and a combination of gentle candlelight and inviting daylight create a relaxed atmosphere and form the basis for regeneration, health and beauty. Experience showers incorporate different scents, colours and jets for a unique spa experience. Facial treatments, manicures, pedicures, soothing massages and invigorating body treatments are also offered in the well-being area.
