Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – dry (between May to September) and wet (between October to April) – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Bali at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.

This is a very cool and very luxurious property. It's right in the heart of the town so its really easy to access the nearby shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel has 240 rooms and suites, all of which have been tastefully designed with minimalist interiors, neutral colours and a good amount of space. There are some excellent views to be had across the beach and ocean from many of the suites, including the Deluxe Ocean Suite and Alila Ocean Suite. The hotel also has five beautiful swimming pools and three different restaurants, which are also open to non-residents, as well as a supervised kids club. I loved the overall design and feel of the hotel and thought it had a very welcoming atmosphere.

Within two minutes of walking from the hotel you are surrounded by some lovely boutique shops and local restaurants giving you a true flavour of the local area.
Alila has stunning views of the ocean with five pools to lie by, some suitable for families and couples.
The rooms are contemporary in design, some being on the ground floor and some higher up offering ocean views.
The hotel has a good children's club for younger guests conveniently located by the main restaurant.
A hotel great for all ages.
