Kampala and Entebbe

Kampala is Uganda's capital and largest city. It borders Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa. Entebbe, around 25 miles away, was once the capital city during Uganda’s period as a British protectorate.

Kampala and Entebbe

Kampala is a lively and dynamic city, with a rich heritage despite it tumultuous history. Now a thriving, friendly city, there are many points of interest throughout the town and beyond that will give visitors a chance to discover Uganda’s unique culture.

Entebbe, another major city, has a more relaxed and laid-back atmosphere. Once Uganda’s capital, the city is now more well-known for its array of natural attractions. The botanical gardens are well worth a visit for its huge variety of plants and great bird-spotting opportunities. A day trip to Ngamba Island on Lake Victoria is also highly recommended in order to visit the chimpanzee sanctuary, which offers the chance to interact with the rescued orphans that now call this island home.
