Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Weather-wise, the best times to go are spring and autumn. Marrakech is very hot in the summer months of July and August, a dry but extremely relentless heat. By the end of October the evenings are cold, although the midday sun is still warm enough to bask in. The weather in winter, from November to March, ranges from cold and rainy to sunny days, warm enough to sit outside.

Beginning in Marrakech, head to the main square to soak up the bustling atmosphere and spot dancing acrobats and musicians. In the souks you can browse the exuberant stalls, haggling as you go, and explore the old fortress city. We’ve included a tasting tour for you, where an expert local guide will escort you around Marrakech’s colourful food markets, explaining to you how the locals buy produce and which herbs and spices are used to make their traditional dishes. You’ll have plenty of chances to sample the local delicacies including sumptuous pastries and tangy olives.

Days 4-6: Agafay Desert, Morocco
After your action-packed days soaking up the culture of Marrakech your next adventure takes you just one hour’s away from the city centre, yet the surrounding landscape could not be more different. The Agafay desert is a barren, rocky landscape with gentle hills and rocky outcrops. Here, there is plenty of space to explore and let your inner thrill-seeker emerge as you can try out dune buggies or quad bikes. Otherwise, you may prefer the gentler, plodding pace of a camel, as you enjoy a trek around the striking landscape. By night, you will sleep in a traditional Moroccan Caidal tents, equipped with modern amenities, including running water and flushing toilets! As you relax and watch the sun dip below the horizon, listening to local musicians, you’ll soon forget you are not miles away among the sand dunes of the Sahara, as you relish the desert experience and endless starry sky.
Accommodation: Inara Tented Camp (2 nights)
-
Days 6-8: Atlas Mountains
The final stop on your trip is the stunning Atlas Mountains, where winter months enjoy backgrounds of snowy peaks and treks will take you to small Berber villages, where locals still take their mules to market with few vehicles on the rocky tracks. Here, you can choose to do as much, or as little, as you wish, where relaxing by the pool, enjoying the cooler temperatures and mountain views is more than acceptable. Otherwise, there are an array of activities to choose from including mountain biking, mule trekking and cookery classes. You can also visit a local market, which you will find a lot calmer compared to the noisy thrill of Marrakech’s medina. You’ll be able to meet with locals, many of who still make craft using traditional methods dating back hundred of years. At the end of your stay, Marrakech airport is just over an hour’s drive away, allowing you a diverse itinerary, without long driving times.
