Days 1-4: Merida
Beautifully restored to its former colonial glory, begin your trip at the charming Hacienda San Jose, a short distance from the Yucatan's delightful capital, Merida. Here you can enjoy the peaceful surroundings whilst exploring Mayan ruins and the picturesque towns of Izamal and Merida nearby. Visit the iconic Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza crossing over the ball courts and admiring the famous pyramid. A trip to one of the peninsula's many cenotes is also highly recommended; snorkel in the crystal-clear waters of these fascinating underground sink holes which provide a welcome respite from the sun and a wonderful spot for a private picnic. A guided city tour of Merida has been included, along with a privately guided tour of Chichen Itza with a visit to a cenote thrown in.
Accommodation: Hacienda San Jose (3 nights)

Days 4-10: Riviera Maya & Isla Holbox
From here you will travel by road and then boat to the laidback beach hideaway of Isla Holbox; its rustic charm makes it the perfect spot for a barefoot break. Ditch your sandals and spend your days lazing around in comfortable hammocks in true Yucatecan style. Not only famed for its powdery white sand, Holbox is a habitat for much of the local wildlife, the turquoise channel that separates it from the mainland home to rich marine life and a fascinating array of birdlife. Between May and September it is possible to snorkel alongside whale sharks, an unforgettable experience (the best months being July and August).
A paradise for lovers of nature and the outdoors, Holbox also offers up opportunities for fly fishing, hiking, cycling along the beach and kayaking through mangroves. Casa Sandra, an intimate boutique property, provides the perfect base for visitors to the island and guests can even borrow bicycles to explore the island villages and unpaved roads which are lined with palm trees. Six nights here allows plenty of time to completely unwind before heading back to the mainland by boat to connect with your flight home.
