At this altitude (2240m above sea level), Mexico City rarely gets too hot therefore can be enjoyed at any time of year. The hotter months of May and June, and the rainy season (June-September), when the capital experiences a downpour most afternoons may want to be avoided. Pollution is in maximum effect in the hot, dry season of spring, from late February to early May. Busy times include the MACO Contemporary Arts Festival (April), the Pride march (late June), the Cake Festival (August) and Fashion Week (October).

St Regis, is the perfect spot for those looking for a luxurious and modern hotel in the heart of Mexico City. With 189 rooms it is a larger hotel and offers little Latin flair meaning you do feel like you could be any where in the world. However, the service is incredibly attentive and the rooms are very comfortable with lots of space, advanced technology and a 24/7 butler to attend to your every need. With a spa, fitness area and indoor pool, the St Regis offers all the facilities of a 5* hotel. The margaritas at King Coles Bar are a must and the food at J&J's Grill was very relaxed and delicious- make sure to go for the Tacos.

The St Regis is a fantastic option for a few days in Mexico City, and its location on the Paseo de la Reforma makes it easy to travel through the city and reach sites such as the Museum of Anthropology (a must see!) and the Chapultepec Park and castle. I stayed over the weekend when the Paseo was closed to traffic, allowing us to take out the Bentley bikes and head straight for the scenic city park.

Rooms were comfortable, as were the beds, and there was plenty of space throughout. I was really impressed by the service, nothing seemed to be too much trouble and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The butler leaving the weather forecast in my room was a nice touch after arriving in the middle of the night.

Food was equally impressive and the views from the balcony at Diana Restaurant made for a pretty special sunset dinner.

The St Regis Mexico City is a truly luxurious property and it has fantastic views over the city's famous avenue the Paseo de la Reforma. The rooms are suites are elegantly designed and extremely comfortable. Some of the suites even have showers which can be turned into steam rooms! The hotel has excellent restaurants, a bar and its new La Table Krug, offering an exclusive 11-course dining experience for just 12 guests by Executive Chef Sylvain Desbois.

Resembling an old-fashioned hacienda—if haciendas had soared to eight stories—this hotel wraps around a central courtyard with a fountain that could have been plucked from the zócalo of any Mexican town. The fortresslike walls mean that when you're dining under umbrellas on the shaded terrace or enjoying the view from your own private balcony, there's no noise at all from traffic-clogged Paseo de la Reforma (which runs past the front door). Bosque de Chapultepec, a sprawling park dotted with museums, is within easy walking distance. The 240 rooms and suites are tasteful and elegant, with color schemes of peach, gold, or green; bold fabrics; and dark woods. The service, as you would guess, is polished and professional.
