Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
The Maldives has a tropical climate distinguished by two seasons, or monsoons: the dry northeast monsoon from December to March, and the wet southwestern monsoon from May to November, with more strong winds and rain. April is a transitional period noted for clear water and heat. The temperature remains remarkably consistent at around 30°C.
February to April is the hottest period and resorts are almost all operating at capacity during this period. Mid-December to early January comes at even more of a premium due to Christmas and New Year and prices are even higher. Easter and the Italian holiday week in August also attract peak prices at most resorts.
Storms are more likely from May to November, though it’s still warm, skies can be cloudy and the humidity is higher. This is the low season, with fewer people and lower prices, with the exception of August.
Diving is good year-round, although a basic rule is that life on the reef is more varied and visibility better on the western side of any atoll from May to November and from the eastern side of any atoll December to April.
The surfing season runs from March to October, which is when resorts are cheapest.

Days 1-6: Maldives
Begin your holiday with a 40-minute speedboat journey to paradise. Cocoa Island is set on a lush tropical island among soft white beaches and crystal clear lagoons. It’s the epitome of barefoot chic, yet sophisticated in its luxury. The island is small and boutique with only 33 suites and villas, some of which are inspired by dhonis, a traditional Maldivian fishing boat. All the rooms are spacious and full of natural light, featuring Kajan thatched roofs, bleached wood interiors and natural fabrics. The villas are connected by simple wooden walkways with direct access to the turquoise waters.
The island has one restaurant – Ufaa - offering delicious cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere by the infinity pool and sea, serving international, Sri Lankan and Keralan style dishes. The menu changes daily to allow you to enjoy something different every day.
Cocoa Island is home to an award-winning Shambhala Spa offering holistic, Asian-inspired treatments and is the perfect spot to relax after a day's snorkel on the reef just off the beach.

Days 6-11: Maldives
Following your stay at Cocoa Island, you will be taken directly down to the Thaa atoll to the home of Maalifushi, the first resort to open in the atoll and your COMO journey continues.
Accommodation over-water or on land is on offer, its indigenous architecture and minimalist yet stylish design reflecting the island's calming setting.
Maalifushi’s three restaurants offer guests the chance to enjoy different culinary experiences, relying on the same principles as Cocoa Island with local seafood and organic produce.
The nearby waters boast a rich marine life, with regular sightings of whale shark, hammerhead shark and manta ray. Guests can be pampered in the award-winning spa or simply relax and enjoy a home away from home.
This itinerary suits both couples and families but Cocoa Island is better suited to couples as a boutique venue without childcare facilities. Maalifushi is perfect for all age groups, families included, but is a wonderful couples retreat.
