Description

Explore South India and the Andaman Islands on this fifthteen night itinerary. Taking in much of Tamil Nadu which is famed for its beautiful temples, it is a perfect trip for anyone returning to India for a second visit. Ending on Havelock Island in the Andamans, guests will fly home feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

This enchanting itinerary begins in the town of Madurai, which sits on the banks of the river Vaigai. Dating back to the Pandyan kingdom around 600BC, it is a city rich in heritage and you will visit the many Dravidian style temples. During your time here, we can organize a two-night stay at the Heritage Madurai.

Next spend two nights at Visalam, which lies in between Trichy and Madurai in the heart of Chettinad. Get a real feel for Chettinad traditions here and take a visit to the local bazaars and artisan's workshops. The surrounding countryside is also a great place to go birdwatching, horse riding and enjoy boating trips.

From Chettinad to Tanjore, your next stop is another two nights at the luxurious Svatma hotel which embodies Tamilan art and culture throughout its design. Tanjore was once the capital of the Chola empire and is home to more impressive temples including the Brihadeeswarar Temple.

No trip to Tamil Nadu is complete without a stay in Pondicherry and colonial, boutique hotel Palais de Mahe provides the perfect spot to unwind. Wander the streets of Pondicherry before returning to the hotel for some afternoon tea. Located in the old French quarter of the town, you are just moments from the main sights.

Your journey then takes you down to the remote Andaman Islands for some beach time. The highlight of the trip, is Jalakara, is somewhere few ever think of heading, a tropical retreat on Havelock Island. With some of the best diving in the world, enjoy the Robinson Crusoe way of life here; it’s hard to beat. Upon returning to Chennai, you will spend one night at the Trident Chennai before heading home.

Our itineraries are completely bespoke and can easily be adjusted to suit you. Add on more time in the Andaman Islands to completely switch off. Our specialists visit all the places we sell, so know the properties we sell and the local area inside out.
