Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
October to May is the best time to visit these areas of Thailand with generally dry and sunny days that are perfect for exploring and relaxing on the beach. A fantastic time to visit Thailand is during Songkran from 13-15 April when the whole country turns into a big water fight and is great fun for all the family.
A luxurious vacation that is ideal for those looking to explore the best that Thailand has to offer including vibrant Bangkok, the cultural north and with plenty of time to relax at Soneva Kiri, the ultimate luxury beach hotel in Thailand. This route is perfect for both couples and families alike and is perfect for nature-lovers.
Days 1-3: Bangkok
Step off the plane and be immediately immersed in the colorful chaos that is Bangkok. Your private driver will whisk you through the city to what we consider to be the most luxurious property in the capital, the Peninsula Bangkok, attractively located on the bank of the Chao Phraya river. Here you can stay for two nights, taking in all the sights and sounds of this metropolis, dining at the best restaurants, exploring the sprawling night markets and soaking up the culture. Your local guide will show you around two of the most iconic sites, the Grand Palace, former home to the Thai Royal Family, and Wat Pho which houses the famous 45m (148ft) reclining Buddha. The Thai people have a very close relationship with their Royal Family, so your guide will be able to explain the importance of the love they have for their ruler and their religion.
With great restaurants and a beautiful riverside pool that is ideal to come back to after a busy day sightseeing, The Peninsula is the perfect hotel for couples, but is also very well suited to families. The hotel has plenty to keep its young guests entertained, and the staff are excellent at suggesting activities to do that will keep children of all ages happy.
Accommodation: Peninsula Bangkok (2 nights)
Days 3-6: Chiang Mai
Next you will fly to Chiang Mai in the cultural north of Thailand. The area is famous for its elephant experiences in the beautiful rural countryside and there are lots of hill tribe villages and temples to explore. In the early evening, wander out for dinner in town and be sure to stop off and visit Chiang Mai’s famous night market. We suggest three nights at the Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, with excellent Four Seasons service and a truly idyllic location. We have included a private half day tour of the most famous temples in Chiang Mai, as well as a day of adventure in Doi Inthanon National Park where you will have the opportunity to meet local hilltribes and try to spot some of Thailand’s rich variety of wildlife.
Accommodation: Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai (3 nights)
Days 6-8: Golden Triangle
To go to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai and not meet an elephant would be unthinkable, so you will next be able to enjoy two all-inclusive nights at the Four Seasons Tented Camp, in the heart of the Golden Triangle. A range of wonderful activities are included in your stay, more elephant focussed ones such as trekking alongside an elephant and spending half a day training to be a mahout (humane elephant handler), or you could trek in the jungle with a guide, or even just relax and enjoy a spa treatment before a wine and cheese tasting in the Wine Cellar.
Accommodation: Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle (2 nights)
Days 8-13: East coast beaches and islands
After the cultural treasures of the north, fly south to Bangkok where your small plane awaits to whisk you off to the little-known island of Koh Kood. Staying at Soneva Kiri is the ultimate family experience with an outdoor cinema, beautiful beach, revolutionary Kids Club and myriad of dining options including ice-cream and chocolate rooms as well as dining amongst the treetops whilst being waited on by a butler who arrives by zip wire – it has to be seen to be believed! Villas range from intimate one-bedroom hideaways, perfect for honeymooners, to vast six-bedroom private residences and all villas come with over-sized pools. The island itself must also be explored. There is an intriguing fishing village, lots of lush jungle and some nearby restaurants. Of course, you must make full use of the beach and the wonderful spa for some well-deserved relaxation before you head back home via Bangkok.
