Amazing range of experiences in Stockholm
Stockholm is a year round destination but is at its best in spring, summer and December. From May to September temperatures are warm, early twenties but in the height of summer can reach up to 30 degrees and the sun doesn't set until around 10:30pm, rising at around 3:00am so you can really pack a lot in! During the winter temperatures do get cold but it is a great place to go for a pre-Christmas getaway.
Sweden offers the perfect setting for adventurous teenagers with dense forests and wide archipelagos to explore. You’ll begin with a few days in Stockholm, discovering the vibrant Viking history and marvelling at the beautiful, colourful buildings. Then you’ll set off to your own private island, where you’ll spend your days outside in the nature hiking around the island and setting out on boats to enjoy the water. Your first stop is Stockholm, a cosmopolitan capital city hailing as a leader in design and technology. Alongside the contemporary art galleries and modern buildings, you’ll find a plethora of world-class museums, celebrating a rich Viking heritage. Built on water, the city is spread across 14 islands, however an intricate network of bridges and a fantastic public transport system make this compact city easy to explore. We suggest setting of on a guided tour, where you’ll get to see the beautiful Royal Palace, the Cathedral and Stockholm City hall whilst being enchanted by tales of the history and culture by your expert guide. Stockholm is the perfect city for ambling around with superb shopping and restaurants, the ubiquitous cafe culture of Swedish "fika" and the most welcoming of locals.
Your next destination is reached by water, either a thrilling 40-minute ride by speedboat or perhaps a more relaxed three-hour sail. Island lodge is a luxury tented camp located on its own private island offering plenty of space for you to explore and enjoy as a family. The island is the perfect playground for spending long days enjoying barbecues next to the long, sandy private beaches or heading out on the water taking advantage of the kayaks and sail boats available.
Heading inland to the island there are plenty of hikes on offer and you can even go foraging looking for wild mushrooms and blueberries. With a seafront dining space, an outdoor hot tub and outdoor firepit this is the perfect place for you all to enjoy time together as a family, relishing the fresh outdoors away from the distractions of modern technology and truly enjoying the beautiful nature.
Head out to the outer archipelago, to barren landscape where a feeling of untouched wilderness exists. It's a great chance to see seals in their natural habitat. The tour can end with food on some giant rock or in a boat house.
