Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

San Diego and Palm Springs have a year-round climate. Summer (June - September) is the peak-tourist season in San Diego, Los Angeles and Laguna, this is when the weather is at its hottest and the cities can be over crowded. Palm Springs is busiest in Spring or Autumn where the weather is temperate.

If you are visiting in May or June watch out for the 'marine layer', a cloudy overcast, almost fog-like cloud which may affect the beach and first mile or so of the coastal strip, especially in the mornings.

For less crowds and sunny days, March and April are super, as are September and October, although the summer months in between are ever popular due to the perfect summer climate.

Itinerary

The perfect SoCal trip that begins with relaxation at one of California’s most exclusive retreats, followed by an injection of beach life at quirky Laguna, onto the desert oasis of Palm Springs and finish with some time in cosmopolitan Los Angeles.

  1. Days 1-4: San Diego

Your holiday starts in San Diego, to stay for three nights in the exclusive Rancho Valencia, among the polo fields and farms of the San Dieguito Valley. There Zorro-hacienda style casitas, patios shaded by palms and draped in bougainvilleas and outdoor hot tubs await. A gourmet restaurant serving locally sourced and organic food and exquisite tequila bar will remind you of your proximity to Mexico, while a luxurious spa, pro-level tennis club and wellness facilities will rejuvenate even the most travel weary.

Accommodation: Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa (3 nights)

  2. Days 4-7: Palm Springs

Then it is desert bound to the palm filed oasis of Palm Springs. Stay at the trendy Parker Palm Springs, a full-service boutique resort deigned in whimsical fashion by Jonathan Adler. Dine at Mr Parker's, lounge on the garden hammocks, drop in for a cocktail at the fresh lemonade bar, or play a games of boules. When you're not soaking up the desert sunshine we have included a Jeep tour of Joshua Tree National Park.  Or you could play a round of golf, shop until you drop on El Paseo, or take a modernist architecture tour – perfect for anyone with an interest in art, design, history of the mid-century.

Accommodation: The Parker Palm Springs (3 nights)

  3. Days 7-10: Laguna Beach

From here, it is a short drive across to the Montage Laguna Beach, one of Southern California's most prestigious and relaxing locations, where you will instantly feel at ease and where pampering is very much on the menu. This lovely hotel perched above the Pacific Ocean has glorious views, and flawless service, as well as a great spa and exquisite cuisine. If you are the exploring type, then Laguna Beach itself has a thriving artistic and quirky boutique community, and you can also try your hand at surfing or we have included a whale watching trip, so you can hopefully spot blue whales and bottle nose dolphins.

From here you will fly back from Los Angeles, with amazing memories of these beautiful parts of  California.
