Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

In the southern half of Australia the seasons are the opposite of those in the northern hemisphere: spring comes in September, summer is from December to February, autumn runs from March to May, and winter begins in June. Lord Howe is good to visit year round as the sea temperature rarely drops below 19 degrees Celsius. Warmest weather is mostly between November and May.

Itinerary

Explore Southern Australia’s extraordinary scenery with this itinerary that takes you on a journey to awe-inspiring locations. Marvel at the diversity of the landscapes and take in incredible sights, whilst staying in Luxury Lodges off the beaten track.

  1. Days 1-4: Sydney

Begin your journey in Sydney, arguably Australia’s most dynamic and cosmopolitan city. We have included a guided tour of Sydney by vintage car. Explore the historic Rocks area of the city, offering far reaching views of the Opera House and Circular Quay. Take in a performance at the Opera House, enjoy a yacht cruise out on the famous harbor, visit the lush botanical gardens or spend your time exploring the many markets that hide down quaint side streets.

Accommodation: Park Hyatt Sydney (3 nights)

  2. Days 4-8: Lord Howe Island

After a relaxing stay in Sydney, continue on to Lord Howe Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the last true paradises on earth. Lord Howe Island is just two hours by air from Sydney and its diverse collection of scarce flora, fauna and prolific marine life make this is a nature lover’s dream. With its unspoiled beaches and lack of development or pollution, this really is a rare gem of a destination. Snorkel in the pristine waters or trek overland in the dense native forest. An adventure lovers playground with just 400 non-residents allowed on the island at any one time, if your seeking remoteness, luxury and the chance to connect with nature then Lord Howe island is the island for you.

    Accommodation: Capella Lodge (4 nights)

  3. Days 8-11: Blue Mountains National Park

Returning to Sydney your next destination is the dramatic Blue Mountains, just a few hours’ drive from Sydney. Enjoy tranquillity and connection with nature as you explore the surrounding area through a range of nature-based activities including four wheel drives, guided Aboriginal interpretive tours, nature walks, wildlife spotting and horse riding.

Accommodation: Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley (3 nights)

  4. Days 11-14: Flinders Ranges

Following your time in the diverse Blue Mountains National Park, journey to the wide expanses of the outback to experience life in the remote Flinders Ranges. Explore the spectacular scenery with a picturesque flight over the vast outback, spend a day with an indigenous guide learning about the ancient Aboriginal culture of the area or simply marvel at the myriad of local wildlife, including Red and Gray Kangaroos, Rock Wallabies, Emus and many different species of birds.

    Accommodation: Arkaba (3 nights)

  5. Days 14-18: Kangaroo Island

From the red earth and gum trees of the outback, travel to Kangaroo Island for the final element to your spectacular adventure, just 15 km off the coast of South Australia. Kangaroo Island boasts outstanding natural beauty and its relative isolation has ensured an abundance of wildlife in a stunning and protected natural environment. Explore the island’s natural wonders including secluded cliffs overlooking a rugged coastline, views of the wild Southern Ocean and Kangaroo Island’s sugar-white beaches not to mention the huge variety of endemic wildlife that flourish here.

Accommodation: Southern Ocean Lodge (4 nights)
