Your overnight international flight to Nairobi is based on Upper Class with Virgin Atlantic. On arrival, you will be privately transferred to your shared charter flight to Sasakwa Airstrip, situated within the Singita Grumeti Reserve, an entire privately-owned game reserve in the western corridor of the Serengeti.

You will be staying at Singita Sasakwa Lodge, which sits perched on a hill overlooking a vast plain below. Your private cottage comes equipped with an infinity plunge pool and Swarowski telescope so, even when you are relaxing between game drives, you won’t miss any action on the savannah. In addition, the lodge offers tennis courts, a stable of 16 horses and a large outdoor pool.

After a few nights you will be driven to Singita Faru Faru Lodge, located a 45-minute drive from Sasakwa Lodge overlooking the Grumeti River with just eight spacious but cosy suites. Elevated viewing decks overlook the waterhole while huge picture windows in each room mean that game viewing never has to stop. Hot air-balloon rides can be easily organized over the stunning reserve for a really special touch.

You will then fly from Sasakwa to Zanzibar where you will be met and transferred, by road and boat, to the utterly fabulous Mnemba Island Lodge. Mnemba is easily the most luxurious lodge in Zanzibar and is the only lodge on Mnemba Island. The 10 large thatched ‘bandas’ are simply yet exquisitely furnished, the ‘Robinson Crusoe’ style belying the fact that this is an extremely well-run and luxurious place. The white-sand beaches, and snorkeling directly off them, can be enjoyed only by guests of the lodge and, in addition to all meals and drinks, two dives per person, per day are included in your stay (provided you hold a PADI qualification).

Return to London overnight in Club World with British Airways.

When to travel

Tanzania is a large country, with a varied climate. Generally, the long rains run from March to May - the temperature is warm and the humidity is high. June to October is the long dry season, and the short rains are in November and December, much lighter than the long rains. January and February are again dry (the short dry season) so this is another good time to visit. The wildebeest migration happens most of year in Tanzania's Serengeti, and is linked to the rainfall.
