Attractively priced, and designed as an ideal introduction to Mexico for first-time visitors, this itinerary takes in the glorious Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, the bustling colonial charms of Merida and relaxation on one of Mexico's most picture-perfect beaches. Accommodations are based on the finest hotel in each location, including the luxurious Esencia.
On arrival in Cancun you will be met by your private driver to begin your vacation with two nights at Hacienda Chichen, a charming small estate perfectly located by the world-famous Maya ruins of Chichen Itza. We would suggest taking a half-day tour of the ruins before the crowds arrive, leaving the afternoon free to head off to a cenote for a swim, relax in the spa, enjoy some bird watching or head off to explore one of the nearby colonial towns.
Continue to Merida for two nights to stay at the beautiful Casa Lecanda, an immaculately restored Merida home that makes a serene haven from which to enjoy Merida. Perhaps you could make a trip to the archaeological sites of Uxmal and Kabah to contrast the different Maya styles (we can provide a private archaeologist if you wish), do a little horse riding, spot flamingos in Celestun National Park and enjoy some of the city's Yucatecan gourmet specialties such as cochinita pibil, a slow-roasted suckling pig cooked with orange juice and spices.
Finally the alluring white sand beaches of the Riviera Maya beckon, and the sleek Hotel Esencia is the perfect place to wind down. Enjoy superb service and amenities, and treat yourself to a fantastic spa treatment, go off to dive or snorkel on the world's second longest barrier reef, dine in one of six wonderful restaurants or simply relax on the beach. All of this itinerary can be customized to suit your preferred length of stay, destination and style of accommodation.
