Like the rest of Malaysia, Sabah’s climate is hot and humid. Expect temperatures in the high 20s and low 30s throughout the lowlands. The state’s rainfall averages about 300cm annually and though it rains throughout the year, the heaviest rainfall generally occurs between October and February.

Begin married life with a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to Malaysia and Borneo. From the emerald jungles and varied wildlife of Borneo to the golden beaches and stunning beauty of Langkawi island, this honeymoon marries the best of both worlds and showcases some of Malaysia's iconic destinations.

  1. Days 1-5: Islands and Beaches

    Start your honeymoon with a few nights at an idyllic beach retreat on Gaya Island. Only a short boat ride across the water from the bustling northern city of Kota Kinabalu in Borneo, Gaya Island is a fantastic introduction to Malaysian island life. With over 15 square km of tropical paradise to explore, you can admire the roaming wildlife or relax on one of the many beautiful white sand beaches. If your feeling active you could hike high into the jungle for breath-taking views or take out paddleboards to explore the coves and bays. Alternatively simply relax on the golden sand with your significant other– the perfect start to your honeymoon.

  2. Days 5-7: Kinabatangan River

    Returning to mainland Borneo by boat you will fly from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan before heading inland to the sprawling Kinabatangan River region. Basing yourself at one of the regions jungle lodges here you can spend your time trekking through the jungle, visiting the mangroves by boat viewing monkeys and other wildlife, or simply relax at your chosen lodge taking in the surrounding river life. Look out for the rare proboscis monkey that inhabits the area or the inquisitive pygmy elephants that line the rivers edge. If your lucky search high in the canopy and you might just see one of Borneo's few remaining truly wild orangutans. Lodge based guided wildlife walks and boat cruises are included.

  3. Days 7-9: Kuala Lumpur

    Your next stop is Peninsular Malaysia. First head to the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur’s streets where you can enjoy this city’s numerous shops and colourful markets. Kuala Lumpur offers visitors a multitude of sites to see and activities to do and included in this itinerary is a half day city tour allowing you to familiarise yourself with the main sites before exploring independently.

    Head to the top of the iconic Petronas Towers to see panoramic views over the city or journey out of the city to explore the nearby sacred caves at Batu.  Enjoy your dose of cosmopolitan city life as you explore this impressive city before continuing to the island of Langkawi where you will be based for the final few days of your Malaysian honeymoon.

  4. Days 9-14: Langkawi

    The idyllic island of Langkawi is the perfect location to relax and reflect on your wedding with your lvoed one. Lie on one of the stunning beaches that surround the island whilst admiring monkeys swinging in the trees overhead. With a small population yet world-class beaches, this little island offers true respite and luxury. 

    Enjoy the facilities at your chosen hotel which are regarded as some of Malaysia’s best or partake in one of the varied activities the island has to offer. From boat trips to diving, guided wildlife walks to cable car rides high into the canopy, Langkawi will not disappoint as the end destination of your epic Honeymoon through Malaysia and Borneo.

  • Abai Jungle Lodge - Tree Planting Project

    Join in a local tree planting project to encourage more growth and wildlife on the riverbanks. After planting a tree you will be invited to enjoy a simple lunch with the locals and you can also explore their village.

  • Batu Caves & Royal Selangor Pewter Tour

    This half day tour will take you to the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, where you will visit Malaysia's most prestigious pewter factory as well as the Batu Caves; one of the country's most iconic and holy sites.

  • Forgotten Trails of Kuala Lumpur City

    Kuala Lumpur is often regarded as very much a contemporary city, with modern streets and towering skyscrapers. This tour aims to go behind the scenes, and explore more of the local life within Malaysia's capital.

  • Half Day City Tour of Kuala Lumpur

    For first time visitors to KL this tour is a great introduction to the city taking in the main attractions of the melting pot of a city.

  • Kampung Tour - Kuala Lumpur

    Head out of Kuala Lumpur to gain an insight into Malaysia's rural life. Spend the afternoon visiting a local village before taking a boat trip into a mangrove forest, where there are often thousands of fireflies lighting up the trees on the riverbank.

  • Kinabatangan River - Afternoon River Cruise

    In the late afternoon set off by boat to explore the Kinabatangan River. Enjoy the scenery as the sun sets, watching the colours change across the sky. You may be lucky enough to spot the fireflies begin to twinkle along the riverbanks as night falls.

  • Kinabatangan River - Night Walk

    Accompanied by the lodge's naturalist, enjoy an evening adventure along the boardwalk around the property. This is a great opportunity to spot some of the area's nocturnal wildlife, including snakes, birds and insects.

  • Petaling Street Heritage Food Walk

    Spend a few hours enjoying the sites, smells and flavours of Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown area. This is a fun but fairly gentle introduction into Asian streetfood. You will also have the opportunity to visit nearby temples.
