Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

From May to August the Yala monsoon brings rain to the island’s southwestern half. The southwest has the highest rainfall – up to 4000mm a year. There is also an inter-monsoonal period in October and November when rain can occur in many parts of the island. Colombo and the low-lying coastal regions have an average temperature of 27°C. The sea stays at around 27°C all year. Climatically speaking, the driest (and best) seasons in Sri Lanka are from December to March for the west and south coasts.

Itinerary

This itinerary provides a magical combination Amangalla in Galle with the luxury chic beach resort of Amanwella on Sri Lanka's palm-fringed south coast, providing a journey in Sri Lanka experienced in ultimate luxury. Aman Hotels put the guest at the very heart of what they do and are amazingly creative in the experiences they provide. Expect beautifully designed boutique hotels, amazing service and wonderfully crafted experiences.

  1. Days 1-4: Galle

Starting off the trip, we have included three nights in Amangalla, located in the heart of Galle Fort, a UNESCO world heritage site. This property fantastically merges old-school colonial elegance with Aman's unique contemporary finishes. You will find the hotel carefully filled with antiques and old prints, yet with all the modern touches like a world-class spa, amazing pool and mouth watering cuisine. During the stay in Galle, take time to explore the incredible fort and visit Ambalangoda, the center of mask making in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka as a whole is famed for its tea and a visit to one of the surrounding plantations is a must during your stay at Amangalla.

    Accommodation: Amangalla (3 nights)

  2. Days 4-8: Tangalle

Next you will take a beautiful scenic drive to Tangalle, here you’ll have four beautiful nights to spend on the beach at Amanwella, the sister property of Amangalla. In our opinion, Amangalla sits on the best stretch of beach in Sri Lanka, and each suite has its own plunge pool for ultimate decadence. The suites are kitted out in traditional, minimalist Aman style complete with a huge amount of living space and free-standing bathtub. Most likely here, you’ll just want to relax but if you do decide to venture out, we can of course arrange some incredible experiences such snorkeling, surfing and blue whale watching depending on the season.

    Accommodation: Amanwella (4 nights)
