Description

Explore Peru's fascinating Inca ruins, colorful culture and dramatic landscapes on this trip that takes in the highlights of the country. You'll be staying in some of the best accommodation available, where a beautiful room, delicious Peruvian-influenced cuisine, superb locations and the very best service awaits after a day's adventures.

Your journey begins in Lima, the capital city where you can enjoy your first taste of Peruvian hospitality and taste a traditional pisco sour perhaps with a dish of ceviche for lunch. From here you'll travel into the Sacred Valley where your tour back in time to the days of the Incas begins. Spend your time visiting ancient sites such as Yucay, or enjoy active adventures such as horse riding, mountain biking or kayaking. The colorful village of Pisaq's markets are well worth a visit and the Inca architecture at Ollantaytambo and Chinchero are not to be missed.

From here, travel up to the ruins at Machu Picchu, watching as the clouds peel off the surrounding mountains - it is a magical sight to behold. Explore this hilltop city with a knowledgeable guide, learning the secrets of the sun gate and debate the mysteries of how and why this impressive civilization disappeared. Meet the resident llamas, easily the most photographed llamas in Peru!

Travel from here in style in the beautiful Hiram Bingham luxury train down the valley to the ancient city of Cuzco, whose charming terracotta rooftops cover the valley. Explore the museums and winding streets, taking in lively markets and bartering for souvenirs. Stay at the historic Belmond Monasterio Hotel, a former monastery which has been lovingly converted into a beautiful hotel. After exploring Cuzco, board the luxurious Belmond Andean Explorer sleeper train for an unforgettable journey to the volcanic white city of Arequipa, so named because of the dazzling sillar stone which was used to build much of the city.

On route you will stop in Puno on the shores of the mirror-like Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake and home to the famous Uros Indians who live on islands made of Totora reeds. Explore some of the lake's islands and interact with the locals before continuing to Arequipa which is the gateway to the Colca Canyon. Tour this beautiful city, visiting it's fascinating treasure trove of museums before heading into the Canyon where you can enjoy a range of outdoor adventures and spot condors soaring in the valley's thermals. Fly back up to Lima and spend a final night at the Belmond Miraflores Park to connect with your international flight home.
