A luxurious and iconic trip taking in some of Tanzania's true highlights and staying at some of the best properties in East Africa. Explore the Rift Valley's wildife-rich national parks, Maasai culture and dramatic scenery, before flying to a pristine beach on the east coast of Zanzibar.
Your safari begins at Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, set in one of the most diverse parks in Tanzania. The park boasts an incredible wealth of habitats, from swamps and a tranquil lake to the mountain escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. The lodge is located in the park’s remote south western region, allowing for leisurely tracking of the famous tree-climbing lions and unimpeded viewing of the flocks of pelicans, flamingos, and the buffalo cooling in the soda lake.
You will then be driven to the Ngorongoro Crater, once a huge active volcano. Its collapse has formed a natural sanctuary in which there are an estimated 30,000 animals including black rhino. This unique conservation area offers some of East Africa’s most concentrated game viewing and the Crater Lodge mirrors the dramatic scenery with its opulence. Perched on the edge of the crater rim you can enjoy spectacular views, particularly in the early morning as clouds form over the caldera. A private butler will take care of your every whim and desire during your stay, from arranging pre-dinner drinks to drawing you a bubble bath after a long day out game-viewing.
Fly north over the vast open plains of the Serengeti, famed for its abundance of wildlife and superb game viewing, giving visitors a real-life ‘Out of Africa’ experience. The annual wildebeest migration is the major event in the national park, moving around the ecosystem between the Serengeti and Kenya's Masai Mara throughout the year. Serengeti Under Canvas shadows the movements of the great migration, ensuring an unforgettable experience, as close as possible to the action. Although you're staying in a mobile tented camp, every comfort has been considered, down to persian rugs, chandeliers and even a flush loo!
Last but by no means least, fly out to Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean for some time soaking up the sun, spa treatments and chill out time. Baraza is arguably the best resort in Zanzibar, offering spacious one- and two-bedroom villas alongside a beautiful stretch of white-sand beach. Each has its own private plunge pool, sitting are and spacious en-suite bathroom and is fully air-conditioned. Enjoy treatments in the extensive spa and make use of the gym, tennis courts and watersports facilities.

When to go
Tanzania is a large country, with a varied climate. Generally, the long rains run from March to May - the temperature is warm and the humidity is high. June to October is the long dry season, and the short rains are in November and December, much lighter than the long rains. January and February are again dry (the short dry season) so this is another good time to visit. The wildebeest migration happens most of year in Tanzania's Serengeti, and is linked to the rainfall.
