Perfect for families, couples or groups this epic journey will take you around the best parts of Southern Africa and its most interesting and beautiful landscapes. Definitely a trip you'll want to pack your cameras and binoculars for!

Arrive in Cape Town for a few days relaxation at the Belmond Mount Nelson, the most iconic of the city's hotels, perfectly located for exploring all the sights. This elegant establishment is situated amongst sprawling gardens, dotted with sculptures by South Africa's best artists. The Company Gardens opposite are a fantastic place for an afternoon stroll to learn about the city's history and all of the shops and restaurants of Long Street and Kloof Street are just a short walk away. Any adventures you wish to embark upon here such as hiking up Table Mountain or testing your bravery in a Shark Cage can be arranged by the hotel's wonderful concierge service. There is a wonderful kid's club for any parents who'd like some time to themselves, or alternatively some beautiful cottages with their own pool for any couples or honeymooners who would prefer some peace and quiet.

Then after you've had your fill of city life it will be time to head off to a drastically different scene - the towering red sand dunes of the Namib Desert. Your lodge here, Little Kulala, is quite contrasting to a city hotel. Set amongst ancient camel thorn trees on the dry Auab riverbed, this intimate camp offers just eleven thatched cottages, each with their own plunge pool and a star bed on the roof for those who wish to fall asleep under a blanket of stars. Go on game drives and nature walks here in search of desert adapted game or take an early morning balloon flight and be suspended in stillness over the sand dunes and plains below.

Namibia possesses some of the most stunning landscapes in Africa, spoken of with reverence by those who have been, and, one of which, the Skeleton Coast, will be next on your incredible journey. This is where the sand dunes of the oldest desert in the world collide with the cold of the wild Atlantic coast. The eerie mist created by the collision of these two forces of nature are a delight for all keen photographers and the iconic coastline is a beauty with its shipwreck remains, windswept beaches and hordes of seals. The Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp is situated just slightly inland from this, in the ideal spot for exploring the coastline but also the wide valley in which it sits, where the two tributaries of the Hoanib River meet. This natural tented camp blends in perfectly with its desert surroundings and has the Kaokoveld's best viewing of diverse desert adapted wildlife, including elephant and lion.

Next, for a complete change of scenery once again you can head into Botswana, to Abu Camp in the Okavango Delta. The lush green waterways, verdant plains, miles upon miles of reed beds and papyrus swamps of the Delta create Africa's biggest oasis and the world's only inland delta. This is an area of exceptional natural beauty and Abu Camp is just as exceptional as the setting. Abu was the original base camp when Randall Moore pioneered Africa's first elephant-back safaris in the Delta back in the early 1990s and as a guest here you are invited to walk with and ride elephants, and get a real glimpse into their world. It is a privileged few that get to experience the ultimate elephant education safari. The six luxurious tented suites are set beneath a shady canopy in a forest glade, with many antique furnishings creating a true air of opulence, and elevated decks providing unobstructed views over the lagoon.

Your next stop will be Savuti Camp in the Linyanti Reserve along the Savuti Channel in northern Botswana. The Savuti Channel is a mecca for all wildlife in the area, for a quarter of a century it ran dry, creating wide-open grassland, home to a wide variety of wildlife and predators. Then in 2008 the waters returned and now the area is filled with abundant game that has congregated in its wake. The camp is situated right by a waterhole and so guests enjoy incredible game viewing from the comfort of their own tented room on stilts. There is also a family tent here with two bedrooms for those that wish to keep a close eye on their children.

Finally it will be time to end your incredible journey with a relaxing stint at a classical property, the Victoria Falls Hotel in Zimbabwe. This time-honoured establishment has been welcoming visitors from throughout colonial Africa and beyond since 1904 and has the most fantastic location, just ten minutes from the falls, with views down to the bridge and the column of spray that rises from the falls themselves. Here you can enjoy watching the sun rise through the spray and immerse yourself in the history which seeps from every corner of the hotel. It is the perfect calm oasis in which to relax and absorb all that you have seen during your travels.
