Chance to get off the beaten track and to truly immerse in some of the most exotic and spectacular landscapes in India.
In central India, the best time to visit is from November to February when the weather is warm and dry.
In Bhandhavgarh and Kahna National Parks, there is a tropical climate and it can get very hot during the day. From April-June temperatures can reach over 40°C, while early mornings and evenings are pleasant (18-24°C). From October-March night time winter temperatures vary between 2-20°C, whereas days are sunny and pleasant .
Please note that this itinerary is not accessible from July until September due to the Monsoon rains.
Through this itinerary you’ll visit some of the most remote and wild parts of central India with expert guiding throughout. From Delhi and Varanasi, head to Bandhavgarh and Kanha National Parks combining little-visited destinations and extraordinary wildlife experiences.
Starting the itinerary in Delhi you’ll have a couple of nights and for your first full day you’ll have an extensive look around the city with your private guide. Visit the spice market and vast Jama Mahid Mosque that overlooks the shopping area of Chandni Chowk. For those new to this city, no visit is complete without a trip to Humayun’s Tomb and a cycle rickshaw ride through Old Delhi. Stop for some Masala chai in one of the narrow streets here, before heading on to the Red Fort and Jama Mosque.
After two nights you will take a short internal flight to Varanasi where you will be able to visit the Ganges. One of the most vibrant places on earth, here your guide will help you uncover the sacred rituals of life and death, in one of the world’s oldest cities in the world. You'll explore the ghats of this great Hindu city on a private sunrise boat tour. Witness locals flocking each day to these holy banks to perform their daily ablutions. Here life and death are intertwined; the Ganga is known as the elixir of life which brings purity to the living and salvation to the dead which can be experienced during the famous Aarti ceremony.
From Varanasi you will catch a flight further inland to Khajuraho and onto Kalinjar, the first of three camping experiences. Organised by Kaafila Camps, you will embark on a three night expedition through this remote and rugged landscape. Accompanied by a team of expert guides with a wealth of encyclopaedic knowledge, you will learn about the geology, history and local culture of Kalinjar and its surroundings. The campsite is completely mobile, but totally equipped to offer a comfortable stay and everyone will enjoy evening drinks and the dinners around the campfire.
After three nights, you will head on to Bhandhavgarh National Park by road. This well known tiger reserve is full of forests, steep rocky hills and flat grasslands making it an ideal habitat for these apex predators. Stay here three nights and head out on early morning and evening game drives and enjoying other wildlife experiences.
Your last stop will be to Kanha National Park. Like Bhandhavgarh, this is a well-known tiger reserve, but also offers opportunities to see Barasingha (wild swamp deer). It was here that sparked the inspiration for Rudyard Kipling's famous novel The Jungle Book & it makes for a great last stop on this incredible Indian adventure.
Explore New Delhi, the area that Britain constructed between 1911 and 1931 as their new Imperial capital in India. Think of leafy, wide avenues, and white-washed bungalows. See the vast Rajpath, the Parliaments Buildings and Humayun's Tomb.
Take a full day exploring both Old and New Delhi taking a Rickshaw through Chandni Chowk and visiting the Jama Masjid Mosque, Rajpath & Humayun's Tomb.
