An incredible combination of properties in iconic locations across Southern Africa. Begin in the boutique Ilala Lodge, the closest hotel to the falls themselves. A great base to explore the Victoria Falls National Park, experience the range of activities on offer, and to just relax by the pool before heading off on safari.
On to Savute, this is ultimate big game country. The lion prides of Savute are infamous, their relationship with the hyena clans of the area has been documented in Emmy award winning documentaries. This is a rich environment with a huge volume of diverse wildlife. Savute Under Canvas gets you into the heart of the action, an authentic and eco-friendly mobile camp, set up in remote locations of this beautiful wilderness area.
Following your safari you will fly back down to Johannesburg, spend a night at The Saxon to experience the mind-blowing tasting menu at 500, one of South Africa’s top restaurants. The Saxon is a 20 minute drive from the airport, but it's the finest hotel in the city, making this a really special night on your honeymoon, much nicer than an airport hotel!
The following morning, head back to the airport to fly to Mozambique, landing in Maputo you will be met by a representative of White Pearl who will accompany you to your scheduled charter flight. Spoil yourselves rotten for five nights in one of the most breath-taking beach hotels in Africa. Miles of unpopulated golden sands in every direction, incredible fishing, world-class diving and all sorts of activities are available. Many visitors to White Pearl prefer to just relax at the lodge and soak in the Mozambican sunshine. Staff will take care of your every whim, ensuring little surprises to delight you throughout your stay here on honeymoon, from a romantic turndown, private dinner on your deck, or cocktails served beside your private plunge pool. Spend your days relaxing and reminiscing about your safari adventures, watch turtles nest on the beach, snorkel on the nearby reefs, or go horse riding along the shore.
This is an unforgettable honeymoon itinerary and can be tweaked to suit you in whichever way you wish. Just speak to one of our specialists to find out more.

Zimbabwe, Botswana & Mozambique
Using Johannesburg as the logistical hub, you'll fly north to the Zimbabwean bank of the Zambezi at Victoria Falls. Then crossing the border into Botswana by road, you'll fly into Savute from Kasane Airport. After your safari you return to Kasane to catch a flight down to Johannesburg to spend the night there. The following day, fly to Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, and on to White Pearl. After your time on the beach you will fly back via Maputo and Johannesburg to connect with your flight home.
When to go
The dry season in southern Africa runs from May until late October. Game viewing is best in Botswana the further into the dry season you go, although wildlife is superb year round.
The Zambezi is at its height in June, sometimes making the falls themselves hard to see for the spray, but they are spectacular across any date.
Southern Mozambique can feel a bit cooler between late May and early September, across these dates it may make sense to look a little further north at an alternative property - there are options.
As every honeymoon and vacation we organize at Scott Dunn is customized, we can discuss this all in more depth over the phone.
