Florida is a year-round destination with balmy winters, but summers can be hot and humid. The best time to visit Florida is between March and May and in December when it is warm and sunny, before the weather begins to get too hot. Hurricanes and other less serious tropical storms can strike Florida any time in the summer up to the end of November, however the risk is greatest between August and October.
A perfect family holiday for Easter, a half term break or the early summer. Combine Disneyworld and Orlando theme park fun with down-time at the wild Amelia Island, this is a perfect Florida short break with something to suit children of all ages. Lengthen or shorten the itinerary to suit your needs, spend more time exploring the many magical theme parks on offer or take a few extra days to relax on the white sandy beaches of Amelia Island
Land into Orlando International Airport and collect your hire car which will give you freedom and flexibility throughout your Floridian sojourn. You will spend five days exploring Orlando’s most popular theme parks, whether your children are youngsters wanting to meet their favourite Disney characters in person, or teenagers looking for the thrills and spills of the rides at Universal Studios, Orlando has so much to offer families. To start you off we have included passes for both Disney and Universal Studios for you, however if you are looking for a change of scene, visit the Kennedy Space centre to meet a NASA astronaut in person, or spend a day in the water slides and surf pool at a water park.
From here, drive North and replace the theme park buzz with the soft white sandy beaches of Amelia Island. With abundant native wildlife and thirteen miles of beautiful beaches, this barrier island is a fantastic retreat for some family downtime. Stay in a beautiful resort on a grand stretch of pristine coastline, indulge in some delicious spa time, or enjoy a pristine golf course whilst your children are busy with some interactive play at the kids club. We realise that family memories are made on our holidays, as a final experience we have included a guided family kayaking tour through the scenic salt marshes, you and your family will receive an interactive overview of the indigenous wildlife, a fascinating trip for children of all ages. After a five night stay, make your own way back to Orlando Airport where you will drop off your hire car and board your flight home.
