After an overnight flight to South Africa into Johannesburg you will be met and taken to your charter plane for your flight to the Kalahari Reserve. This is where the fantastic Tswalu is situated, perched just below a low sweeping hill, overlooking the vast, unrelenting plains beyond. The malaria free private reserve in which Tswalu resides is the largest in South Africa and the wildlife is extremely diverse, ranging from Kalahari lion to families of meerkat, which are always a huge hit with children and adults alike.
As well as daily game drives there is plenty to do including horse riding, hot-air balloon trips, children’s programs, a lovely spa and dinners in the dunes. Accommodation at The Motse comprises eight ‘legaes’ (houses), two of which have been designed for families and sleep four people comfortably.
After four nights on safari you fly by shared charter plane directly to Cape Town where you will be transferred to The Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel. The Mount Nelson is seen as the ‘grand dame’ of Cape Town. There are nine acres of beautiful gardens, right in the heart of Cape Town (a rare luxury!). Its old-fashioned, excellent service and elegant, classic feel are what guests return for year on year. It is very close to the many excellent restaurants in the surrounding Kloof and Long Streets. The hotel has two large pools, an excellent spa as well as a kids club - The Nellie & Nelson Activity Center for children aged between 3 and 12 and a Teens’ Lounge for older children aged between 12 and 18. Planet Restaurant and Planet Bar has been recently refurbished and is highly regarded throughout Cape Town.
Please see our itinerary below. It is a suggested itinerary and can be tailored to suit your individual needs.
This itinerary includes free accommodation for up to two children aged between 3-11 at both Tswalu and The Mount Nelson.

When to go
South Africa is a year-round destination with Cape Town at it's best from September to April. The summers are generally warm and dry, while winters tend to be wet and cool, the rains brought on by fierce north westerly gales. Neither season experiences extremes of temperature, thanks to prevailing winds. Summer (Nov-Mar) is the hottest with temperatures 20-40°C. Mid season (Apr, May, Sep, Oct) temps between 10-30°C. Winter (from June- Aug) is the low season with temps 0-25°C. The whale migration takes place between late July and early November.
